WORKER: NASSAU HID DEADLY MOLD

September 26, 2003 -- A former worker at a Long Island nursing home is charging a cover-up of a long-standing mold problem that he claims made him and other public employees sick, and even caused two workers to die of respiratory problems. Glen Ringersen, 45, a former Nassau County employee at the A. Jolly Nursing Home in Uniondale, said that leaking pipes and moldy walls and ceilings in the facility's basement made it an unsafe place to work. Ringersen, of Bayport, said he quit recently rather than be sent back to the moldy basement. A spokeswoman for the nursing home declined comment.
