Guest guest
At one time this subject came up, and I think addressed it in one of his email lists of things to avoid, but here goes. I finally got my bcp's out and was trying to figure out what the dosage was. Since they don't list the hormones as estrogen or progesterone, I had to do a search to find out what the listed amounts really were. I am taking Ortho-Novum 1/50 bcp, which means that is 1mg norethindrone (progesterone), and .05mg mestranol (estrogen). Now, I am no doctor, but from everything I have read and discussed in this and one other group, isn't this amount of progesterone high compared to the amount of estrogen-and should I maybe ask my gp to put me on something else? In recent posts I mentioned going to my endo on the 15th, and him telling me that if I indeed have GD, he wants to destroy my thyroid. I would like to do everything possible to avoid that happening. I did agree to another uptake and scan. Anyway, if anyone knows anything on the subject of birth control pills, and the dosage I am taking, please let me know. If it would help to either change pills, or go to some other type of HRT, I would be willing to try it. Thanks,
