Guest guest
The " moldy team " from southwestern Ohio is celebrating the first victory in our battle with the Ohio political morass and the toxic local school system of West Carrollton, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. We congratulate the teacher mfor her courage and perserverence, we applaud the tireless efforts of our attorney, and we encourage the medical community to continue to grow in their knowledge of this deadly, unrecognized health hazard. We also want to thank the local NBC/Fox television reporter, Kristi Piehl, who has been the ONLY media coverage, and who has continued to alert the public to the dangers their children are facing. Thanks, too, to Carroll with her extensive work on all our behalfs. and the rest of the wonderful people associated with .com have brought to light the secret world of the mold- and chemically-damaged, and the support and resources available when people have lost all hope. Thank you, . Here is the transcript that appeared on the television news site--not the Dayton Daily Newspaper, who have refused to carry any negative information on our schools. Advocates who are willing to scream long and loud are essential to our fighting this scandalous, nationwide epidemic. Sincerely, Toni Craig, one of the Ohio squeaky voices (my trial is the one referred to in the article, coming up in January). News Report on NBC/Fox affiliate, Dayton, Ohio: Jury Says School Made Teacher Sick Aug. 26 - A landmark decision against the West Carrollton School District. A jury rules that a health hazard in the classroom made a former teacher too sick to work. It took the jury five hours over two days to reach a verdict in favor of Googash. She was the first teacher to complain that something in the West Carrollton High School was making her sick. She's now the first to win a worker's compensation case... her attorney hope she isn't the last. It's the verdict and validation former West Carrollton Teacher Googash has bene waiting for. " We the jury find the plantiff in entitled to participate in the worker's compensation fund. " The 8 person jury unanimously ruled toxic mold 8 growing on high school ceiling tiles, pipes, and walls made Googash sick. Googash, a former West Carrollton school teacher says " it ruined my health and took my teaching career and I don't want that to happen to anyone else. " During the week long trial... scientists, doctors, and teachers took the stand. After listening to the testimony and pouring over hundreds of documents... the jury believes the building is the reason Googash now suffers from laringytis, asthma, and brain damage. Googash's attorney says the true blame falls on the school administrators who she claims knew there was a problem, but didn't act fast enough. Her attorney, Deborah Adler says " the truth came out that there are teachers who are sick and this building made them sick and I believe that is some misinformation the administration put out for quite some time. Many believe today's verdict sets a standard for future cases. There are at least 10 mold related lawsuits scheduled to go to a jury. I do think it's going to set a standard, not only here, but nationwide. West Carrollton is the school system Ohio is actually watching and schools around the country. " Googash doesn't want that spotlight... she says her concern is for the students. " There are still staff and students in the building getting sick going in there everday. " There's no comment tonight from the Bureau of Worker's Compensation and the West Carrollton School District. Googash's attorney expects they'll appeal today's decision. The verdict means the school must pay Googash's medical bills. Two other teachers have filed similar worker's compensation suits. The next trial is scheduled for January.
