Guest guest
Dear All: Read between the lines and judge for yourself. Remember, this man was the direct superior of the building official who does not enforce code. He is also under current investigations. When he suddenly announced his resignation from a few weeks ago, no one bothered to mention that he was only four years away from his city retirement. His retirement pay would be approximately 50% of his salary at the time of retirement, plus benefits. Wouldn't you wait four years to retire at age 55 with a six-figure income? Then, you could still go into the private sector and consult. Could this "new" job possibly be payback for past favors to contractors? No wonder his new employer likes his "ethics"?? By the way, what are ethics??? Less than two weeks into Mayor Peyton's term Mousa resigned as Chief Operating Officer to pursue a job in the private sector. He left the position after working for the City of ville for nearly two decades. "I'm just fortunate enough to have been in the right place at the right time and to be able to leave my fingerprints," said Mousa. When asked about what he would be doing in the near future, Mousa said, "I'm going to work for JB well." First Coast News has confirmed that Mousa's new role will be as the Executive Vice President for JB well Contracting Incorporated. It is a company Mousa knows well. In 1995 Mousa, then ville's Public Works Director, took over the effort to seal the city's northern landfill. The closure cost $30 million in taxpayer money, was two years behind schedule, and drained funds from city parks and recreation projects. In taking over the project Mousa made the decision to recommend an emergency approval of an agreement that set no limit on the funds to complete the closure. The contract that Mousa gave the project to was JB well Contracting Incorporated, his new employer. According to Mousa, "The city sued who we thought was really responsible and got them to pay. It had nothing to do with me, it had nothing to do with well." Mousa was making $191,000 working for the City of ville. His newest contract has not been released but JB well Contracting Incorporated says that they are proud to have someone with Sam Mousa's work ethic and integrity working for them. Mousa begins his new job on August 11th. He says despite the fact he is no longer in politics he will maintain a good working relationship with the City of ville.
