Guest guest
Saw this on a ListServe and thought it was interesting... ASSE is a solid and well respected SH & E professional organization, and this call evidently went out to their members in the states. Even though it talks about ASSE membership I did contact them and all are free to register if they want: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Greetings to all of you!!! With 2004 newly arriving, there is probably only one thing on your mind - mold!!! But, on the serious side the issue of " toxic mold " continues to be a hot issue for many SH & E professionals. We continue to get many inquiries here at ASSE about mold, detection, remediation, and potential regulatory initiatives. We also continue to get many positive comments regarding our technical conference calls addressing American National Standards. The calls have been successful so we have decided to try a call again, but this time addressing a significant and cutting edge SH & E issue. ASSE is hosting a conference call program addressing the issue of mold and fungi. Specifically, we will be looking at identification remediation, and what we seem as some of the key mold regulatory initiatives that you as an SH & E professional need to be aware of. Also, you are hopefully aware that ASSE recently initiated a canvass project via ANSI to write a standard (Z690) addressing the minimum requirements to be followed for the control and remediation of mold and fungi in non-industrial and industrial work environments. In terms of the proposed standard, mold means any of the numerous species and genera of fungi whose primary means of reproduction is the release of spores into the atmosphere. The call will be held on February 17, 2004 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm CST. This program is only $75 for members and includes the following: 1. A collection of papers and articles addressing the issues/concerns of mold and fungi. 2. A 90 minute conference call presentation given by knowledgeable members of the Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Practice Specialties. Our emphasis will be on cutting edge technical information that you can use to enhance your SH & E program. 3. A C.D. copy of the presentation mailed to each participant after completion of the call. 4. The ability to submit your questions via e-mail to the speakers and moderator. 5. An update of what ASSE is doing in regards to the proposed Z690 standard and how the initiative is being recognized in the private and public sectors. 6. The call provides Continuance of Certification credit (CoC) with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, (BCSP). Unfortunately this does not count toward ABIH certifications since a final examination is not offered. As you can see this is a heck of a deal for those of you interested in the issue of mold and how it impacts your current SH & E business operations. If you would like to participate please contact our Customer Service Department at 847/699-2929 or visit our website at http://www.asse.org/frmold.htm We will get you registered, get you the conference call access code, and get the materials out to you for prior review. Thanks and Regards, Tim Fisher with the ASSE Council on Practices and Standards
