Carl makes a very good point in his reply to the letter below. We must be

concerned not only with " toxic " molds, but normal everyday molds as well.

Any mold can induce allergy, even in people with no previous allergy

history, given sufficient exposure. So, just because no " toxic " molds are

identified, that doesn't mean you won't get sick. Chronic sinus problems and

asthma are the two most common allergic responses to " non-toxic " molds.

These conditions are severe disruptions to everyday life, and may become

life threatening. Other allergic responses to inhaled allergens have been

related to such unexpected illnesses as fatigue and gastro-esophogal reflux

disease, even in people without sinus or respiratory problems. Control all

indoor molds as best as possible to reduce the risks of all such illnesses

related to long term mold exposure, toxic or not.

Subject: mold tests

Thank you for your advice on " buying a home with mold " these test

kits that are on the market do they distiguish between toxic mold and

normal dampness mold. I am assuming after reading on the internet

that normal mold is smelly but not harmfull? am i right? and that

this toxic mold is the true issue.

The owner of the property has had " mold Experts " come in and estimate

the damage at to repair at 65K. Would they have done some type of

test to determine this and would I be reading the tests be able to

determine the issue especialy if i gave the test results to another

testing company?

Sorry for all the questions but I would like to understand the

process as well as i can to make sure this woman is not just getting

ripped off by a Scam artist.......

Thanks

Mark
