Just got off the phone to a Dr who just got Malpractice Insurancerenewal form with the disclaimer that there is no coverage for claimsof patients becoming ill from inhalation or exposure to fungi, mold ormycotoxins while in their office. This is quite a surprise to Drs. but not to the rest of us who sawthis coming a long time ago.-

Is this going to help us any? Drs. will nt want to look at us in case we say their waiting rooms are moldy, as I have done?? Most I have been to look at me like I have three heads. The only real hearted person is a kinesiologist I see. My best friend was called by the insurance company on his camp. They are discontinuing his coverage if he doesn't clean the mold off the roof from the pine trees. Where is the human aspect of all this? Why are WE not believed and helped? Sorry. Got on my soapbox there.

I know we need to stand in a soap box. But to who? I have been fighting the government for a year and a half because I got sick in their building in a moldy wet basement. I have involved senators, Washington Dc. NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE! And work? I have a choice at retiring at 39 with half my pay or get fired because I refuse to go backward into one of their moldy buildings on the Shipyard. So WHO do we stand up too? Im not being sarcastic its just it gets tiresome to be sick and fighting this long. Workmen's Comp for Federal workers is a nightmare of lies, threats and not believing no matter what I send them. I wish I know WHO we could get on the soapbox to?

Stay on the soapbox. We all need to stay on our soapboxes, but also if someone looks at you like you are a three headed monster or, more familiarly, insane, then you have to keep going to find a doctor who takes you seriously THEN you also have to be careful that the doctor who is offering help isn't just taking advantage of your need for treatment, whether their treatment is helping you or not.

It's a real minefield out there.

And I am sickened to hear about insurance companies refusing coverage to people if they don't "remediate" their own roofs and doctors who may refuse to treat patients because they are rightly reacting to the moldy office environment! I would ask why is the roof moldy? Are the materials supposed to get moldy? Was it constructed in such a way to allow mold to grow? And the doctors should be made aware if patients are getting sick in their waiting rooms!

It's as if they are blaming the victims (a common game) for the actual presence of mold in dangerous concentrations. We didn't make it happen. Our problem is that we are made sick by it. So they think if they somehow get us out of the picture, get rid of all the complaints about mold, the problem with mold being a danger will somehow just go away. How foolish!

"They" will find out the hard way when they themselves become ill from breathing it and getting it on their clothes. But they may never say publicly that they had a problem with mold for fear of reprisals themselves! It's like telling people you are a terrorist or something.

All anyone has to do is talk to any men who have done heavy construction or demolition jobs. They will invariably tell stories of being exposed to billows of what looks like smoke as they demolish an old building. It's mold spores. Some of them get very sick. The builder who rebuilt my condo after its demolition got extremely ill in the presence of mold. I hired him precisely because I knew that he would take extra precautions to make sure everything was just right to protect me from the mold.

Well, that's why we have these groups. We keep talking about it and then a lighbulb may go on over one of our heads and someone does something extra or different. Whatever it takes. Involve the media more, write something and submit it to a newspaper, a magazine, another legislator, someone who has personal contact with a senator that you never thought of before. I know. We are all tired and sick, but no one will do anything for us to tell our story. We have to tell it and push even if it's one molecule at a time.

And I am not telling YOU PERSONALLY RIGHT NOW to do something. This takes time and thought. I feel for you and all of us.

If you want to tell me what senators you wrote to, I'll write to them, too.

The Remediologists, contractors and plumbers who are at greatest risk

for coming into contact with mold are going to be the next to have

their insurance ripped away from them. I wonder if they know it yet.

Five years ago I made a point of asking plumbers if they had any

unusual reactions after fixing leaks that had cause major water damage.

I didn't even ask about mold because back then nobody had even heard

of " toxic mold " .

I would usually get a puzzled look for asking such a strange question

and then they would say,

" Well, there was this time... " and describe the usual symptoms of a

mold hit.

I know of a huge hospital that has a group of nurses who are sick and

know full well that their hospital is a sickbuilding but don't dare

say anything publicly.

I also know about a school that is full of " problem children " that

throws off a plume that hits me half a mile away.

I was in town standing next to a child coughing in a pharmacy while I

heard the mother say that the doctors couldn't figure out the kids

strange cough and allergies. The kid was wearing a team shirt from

that school. I heard of one child who had so much trouble at that

school with failure to concentrate and behavioral problems that she

was transferred and suddenly turned into a model student.

The parents said that the change was due to the better quality of

teachers at the new school. HAH! If they only knew.

This is really getting interesting.

Dr. Gray in Arizona is quite educated and nice and will not look at

you like you have three heads.

Have faith there are people who are willing to learn if you hand

them the research.
