Guest guest
One person responded to my previous post about hyperthyroid symptoms on Thytrophin. Has anyone experienced worsening of hyperthyroidism from taking Thytrophin, or other adverse side effects? This article talks about hyperthyroidism resulting from supplements, and didn't give a reference for this statement - so don't know if it's credible, but stated, " The popular glandular extract Thyrotrophin PMG contains 109 mg of thyroid glandular extract free of thyroxine in each pill, and the recommended dose is 3 pills daily. Therefore, each Thyrotrophin pill contains 109 mg of an extract primarily containing triiodothyronine (T3) a thyroid hormone that is 5-10 times as potent as thyroxine " http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/graves_disease/97602 This article states caution about over-the-counter glandular supplements as not being regulated by the FDA. " Many of these products do not list their country of origin or the type of animal and tissues used on their label. " http://thyroid.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm? site=http://www.thyroid%2Dinfo.com/articles/madcow.htm http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez This abstract doesn't mention if this supplement contained hormone or not, but reports hyperthyroidism developing in an individual using a supplement. Please let me know your experiences.
