Guest guest
PTU is much cheaper and works as well as tapazole for most people, ask your dr to change your prescription. Guest guest
Thanks nissa. Could you please point me in the direction of somewhere to get the PTU? I did a quick check and it was more expensive than methimazole at the two online pharmacies I found. Does anyone know of any programs -- government, private, whatever -- that would assist with either methimazole or PTU? Currently, I'm going through the county health department. If I jump up and down and scream and holler they will possibly pay for the first month of medication. After that I'd be on my own which currently means I'm out of luck. And we all know that one month of thyroid meds is useless.
Guest guest
I don't know about on-line pharmacies, but when I buy PTU at a pharmacy it costs about $12 for a month's supply (90 pills). Would you be able to swing that amount per month? If not, can you apply for medicaid or one of the state-based programs? In my state (Vermont), you could get medications covered that way, but I think it really varies. Nissa On Thu, 08 May 2008 13:30:12 -0000, " anniearven " <anniearven@...> wrote: > Thanks nissa. Guest guest
Hi Annie! Contact the health facility that did your testing.....See if they can put you in contact with a Social Worker, they can work miracles with drug companies and find ones that have programs! There will be a way for you to get your medications. Contact you local Social Services Agency for help as well. I hope that helps! ~~Lee Ann~~ diagnoised 5/08 >
