Guest guest
I was just diagnosed hyperthyroid at the county health clinic. I was prescribed atenolol and tapazole. The atenolol is only $4/month which I can afford. But the best price I've gotten for generic tapazole (methimazole) would be about $33/month, which I can't afford right now. I'm unemployed with no insurance and not really making ends meet as it is. I've already contacted King Pharm. and it is no longer in their patient assistance program. Does anyone have any resources they can suggest for the tapazole? Or any ideas at all? I'm in Illinois and my income (such as it is) is well below the federal poverty guidelines. Has anyone successfully applied for SSI based on a hyperthyroid condition? HELP!
Guest maynardsmommy
$33 doesn't sound bad for a months supply of methimazole. I take 2 10mg pills daily so that's 60 pills a month and before taxes the cost is $84.72. So I am spending about $87 a month. Well actually this is my first month. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I also take atenelol which is $4. The Dr. here at the state run hospital said that they have a pharmacy were I could.get it for free, but that its too much of a hassle to try and get my meds for free. He told me that the methimazole would be $30 a month but now that I know it is way more than $30, that free pharmacy idea is a hassle I'm willing to deal with!
