wheat and other grains with possible mold contamination

I have been meaning to send this for a while.

A good while back, I thought I had developed an allergy to wheat. Whenever I ate it, terrible things happened to and in my stomach. I thought maybe it was celiac disease. I went with that and just avoided it, etc..

Well, in talking to a cousin who works for General Mills, he told me that the company rejects WHOLE TRAINCARS FULL of moldy wheat.

I'm thinking - who inspects the tons of wheat that's sitting in silos? What is the agency? FDA? USDA? Who's best interests do they have in mind? The consumer or big agribusiness? Where does that moldy wheat - containing carcinogenic aflatoxins - go? Is big agribusiness agreeable to dumping the wheat? Studies show it cannot be fed to livestock.

The FDA has shown how well it protects the consumer (see 60 Minutes) against selling things like fen-phen even after warnings were issued from Europe that it was dangerous. They saw the potential to make a profit off obese people and sold it anyway. People died from heart damage.

Now that there is mad cow disease, the USDA is saying on one hand that we are all perfectly safe, then they are saying it was one dairy cow, then that it was slaughtered (! keep it out of the food chain, please!), that it was in a herd of 4000 and all sorts of mixed messages.

Back to the wheat. I have come to the conclusion that, since I've had two sets of complete allergy tests that show no wheat allergy, that I am possibly allergic to the mold in wheat and other grain products and not the grains themselves.

Corn, wheat and other grains that have a big grain head encapsulated by a shell. It has a lot of moisture in it. It can get moldy in the field. Other lesser companies with less rigorous methods to keep breads, flours and cereal mold free may be buying up "less than perfect" grain and making things out of it.

Rice seems to be okay. It is a smaller grain head and doesn't seem to be prone to mold.

Let's all find out who the inspectors of these grains are and hold them to standards where a certain percentage of mold, rat hairs or what have you is not allowed. Our health, especially if we are already sensitized to mold, is at stake and it is worth the fight.
