Guest guest
The other thing that happens is that builders don't finish a structure in one day. They may get the supports of a house up fast, but it may rain while it's being built. They don't take the time to cover anything in plastic so all the supports and areas that will be eventually be inside the walls is getting wet. Mold is everywhere. All it needs is some moisture and wet wood is a perfect way to start. If the wood that is bought is moldy then that is a huge problem. At least pressure treated wood and other kinds of treated wood can withstand some rain. Also, plywood is good at repelling mold. I have also just heard about something called "shot wood" which is used particle board! I was reading a deposition from my legal case where the lawyer examining the project leader of my remediation brings it up out of the blue! He's the lawyer defending the owner of the condo on the other side of my party wall who was negligent in repairing things that led to my basement being infested and HE KNOWS ABOUT SHOT WOOD. But he's trying to fix it that I am denied recompense for my misery! I can't believe it. As if particle board isn't bad enough! It's bits of wood held together with glue. It soaks up water like a sponge and is a perfect growth medium for mold. If it's used twice, it's almost guaranteed to be moldy when it's put into another construction! All to save money! I can't tell any of you how angry this makes me. Also, the previous owner of my condo is COUNTERSUING ME because I've involved him in a lawsuit BECAUSE he lied about water issues! My property is and always has been nearly underwater at worst, terminally mushy at best. Unbelievable.
