Guest guest
Dear Lou, No, you are not alone and never will be. I know how you feel. For the longest time I knew of no one that had epilepsy or admit to it if they did. I felt kind of alone because of my feelings of fear that no one could understand unless they were in my shoes. I take 3 pills in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and 7 at bedtime. I laugh when I see those day of the week pill containers. I can't fit 1/2 of my pills in there. Walgreen's drug store does make a good one. You need to refill it daily and there are only 2 compartments, but it comes with an alarm. I need to buy another one. I gave mine to my father-in-law who takes a lot of pills every day as well. He has many health problems, poor thing. He was not about to pay $20 for a pill holder, he needs it though. He and my mother-in-law are both 79 and were getting confused as to if he had taken his pills. I'm so glad the visit with your granddaughter is going well. I used to love taking a nap with mine as well. In Oct. she is going to try and teach me how to quilt, I don't even know how to hem. We both have our work cut out for us!! HAHA!! Guest guest
you can have a very focal, localized seizure involving absolutely any part of your body. mercury poisoning? whatever. epilepsy causes seizures, seizures can be localized or generalized, and localized ones can be so focal that only an eye (or eyelid!!)twitches, or one finger, or your tongue or whatever. i've had abdominal seizures, ive had sudden fits of laughter for no reason whatsoever that turned out to be seizure activity, ive had coughing fits that were really localized seizures, ive had one eye shake, ive had my jaw shake, all kinds...it all depends on where the electrical misfire in the brain is, and if it spreads or not. the thing with localized ones is that they very often spread and what starts as your eyelid twitching, ends with you on your face on the floor somewhere. blah. --- jeashe <jeashe@...> wrote: > My only experience would be biting my tongue during > a seizure, but not a > seizure JUST involving the tongue...is that what > youmean? > > > Jeanne > Re: [ ] Fw: Brain waves, > >>> >> Medicine, and vitamins > >>> >> > >>> >> > >>> >> >Can you describe your auras? Guest guest
It's lip smacking or " mouthing " It's actually a very common type of absence seizure. My son does it also, The nuero says if you can distract him it's not seizure activity.

Guest guest
Thanks for this info, I think now I know what is going on, we are moving the mercury out to other parts of the brain but it is not coming out of the blood brain barrier as it should, we are trying to work on that at present. He never had this tongue thing until I started chelating, so now I know I am moving the crap, but unfortunately, we may have to take this a notch higher? Guest guest
Hi Lou!! In your message you said it was 12:49 (I'm assuming you meant p.m.). However as I am replying to you it is 4:00 AM. I've never had insomnia before, but I sure feel for the people who do. Anyway I'm sure this message will be short, but if you see many typo's, you'll know why(: I was reading a little while ago. I thought I would come and answer some e-mail since that was apparently not doing the trick. After this I will read a little more and maybe make some herbal tea. I hate to miss church, but if I go to sleep in the next hour that will only give me 5 hrs., not enough for me. I may stay in and catch church on t.v.. I went to the Dr. today for my well woman exam (that's always fun, huh?). Anyway she wants to increase my Effexor that I take for anxiety due to seizures and mild depression. She thinks my depression may be worse due to the fact that my husbands working a lot more, I cannot drive without a car, cannot afford a car at this time and friends are all busy with family, work or both. I'm not sure how I feel about the increase but my neurologist will make that decision anyway. Depression is no fun, but as sad as it sounds I think I would choose that over seizures as long as the depression was just mild. I just hate to tamper with my meds now that I am finally allowed to drive again. Write back soon. I love hearing from you!! Guest guest
I had a focal seizure that only involved my lip curling up. It wasn't funny at the time, but my husband said had it not been for his concern of me and his knowledge of my seizures, he would have thought I was doing a perfect impersonation of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock N Roll. Guest guest
I'm catching up on some old mail. Just wanted to add some input here. I am able to get some pharmacies to package medications for my clients in blister packs. It's much better than those pill boxes and the package comes marked with what day of the week, am, noon, pm...etc. There aren't too many pharmacies that do it (around here the only two are small privately owned pharmacies, not the big ones like Eckard, rite aid, etc.) but it's definately worth asking. the blister packs then hold one month's supply Jeanne Re: [ ] Fw: Brain waves, Medicine, and vitamins > > >>DearTricia >> >> is very nice and Iam glad to talk with all of you .At least I >>know I'm not alone .Its nice to know someone understands ; Today was a >>tired day so my grandaughter and I took a nap while we watched the lady >>and the tramp we both fell asleep .I know I will never be seizure free >>so I'll just give Thanks to God for my good days and ask him to be with >>me durning my hard ones. Guest guest
Is Effexor an antidepressant? just curious because most antidepressents are known to lower seizure threshold. There may be some other seizure medications that can fill a dual role. Jeanne Re: [ ] Fw: Brain waves, Medicine, and vitamins > > >>Dear Tricia >> >> Hope your day was a good one yesterday . Guest guest
The rules for driving are different in every state. For example, in NJ (where I grew up)you have to be seizure free for at least a year....in PA (where I live now) it's 6 months. The state gives you a form for the neurologist to fill out. Guest guest
Dear Jeanne, As far as I know Effexor is an anti-anxiety, but can also be used for depression. I was on Prozac and had a grand-mal seizure and the Dr. took me off of it immediately. I really don't think he will approve the increase. I'm on the minimum dosage now, 75 mg, but you can be on as high as 375 mg. He may agree to raise it a little. I think my depression derives from my environment. My husband works 14 hrs. a day. My sister works and is always busy with her family. The few friends I have are consumed with work or family. I know I have to find happiness in myself and not others and I'm working on that. I think it's just been a hard adjustment losing my sister as my best friend. First she got married and she pretty much divided her time between us (her husband and me). Then she had a baby (now 3) and add on a bunch of couples with kids and that's it, there is nothing left of her. We used to be so close, but if I get a phone call or a visit now I feel so honored. She only lives 5 minutes away, but she might as well live in another state. Anyway, that may sound so pathetic, but I miss her so much. She knows how I feel. I have told her, but there is nothing she can do to change it so I'm learning to accept it. Sorry about all this, I know it had nothing to do really with your original question. I just thought I would let you know what was behind the decision to increase the medication. There are so many medications that lower the seizure threshold. We have to be careful. Thanks so much for your concern!! I hope you have a great seizure-free day!! Guest guest
its hard to be careful about drugs, too. i have so many doctors and they seem to just prescribe with no care in the world for things outside their area. and when you tell them they nod, make some neutral noise, and keep on writing out the scrip. for a long time i was on a lot of antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic drugs..all of which had seizures as a side effect. to compensate my seizure meds were increased. hello, daze anyone? --- Tricia Strain <callie2@...> wrote: > Dear Jeanne, > > As far as I know Effexor is an anti-anxiety, but can > also be used for > depression.
