Guest guest
I also purchased the magazine curious to see what the article was all about since the letter in support of the Melina Bill had been online and passed around. I normally wouldn't purchase that type magazine either and didn't realize how explicit it was and my 10 year old daughter NEARLY innocently got ahold of it before I realized the stories in it. Oops. Anyway, I was quite surprised. It was a pretty decent article! I don't know what amount of people read the magazine, but hey, at least they are getting educated and may not have to go through the hell so many of us have. I believe several doctors are aware of the demyelination connection, but reporters are probably hesitant to report on such severity. I wouldn't urge anyone to run out to a doctor just because they're mentioned in an article about mold because you might find they are much too expensive for the average American.... definitely thoroughly check into any doctor you will see. I'm certain most people do. You're right, it did not go into great detail about all related symptoms, but overall was a good article. It was nice to see the story about Dr. Simone Somers' experience. It seems to help bring credibility to the issue when doctors stand up and tell their experience. We may not like that it works that way, but it does. The information about the FloLogic that will be required with home insurance offered later this year by Policyholders of America could be very helpful to homeowners as well. The only thing I hope with articles down the road is that they educate that this is not only in homes, but schools and other workplaces across the country too. I realize often it's too broad to cover all of it in one article. Pretty good article showing the serious side of the issue. Just beware of the rest of the content if you have small children. One thing that was great was to see (since being featured so often) was Melinda Ballard and Ron 's son, Reese, looking better and growing. I hope he is much better. Subject: Redbook Magazine article - April 2004 Dear Friends, I just finished reading the April Redbook article entitled, " It's Invisible, It's Deadly, and It's in Your Home " Pages 142-146. Now I wouldn't run out and buy a magazine that had " Sex " amd " Freebies " as two of it's lead articles. But I am glad I did. All I can say is At last! We are toxic Mold/Dursban survivors. This is the first article I have ever seen that mentions the demylination of nerves which is one of the most painful results of toxic mold exposure. It doesn't mention the collapse of the immune system either, but it does name some of the key people and websites currently available. If you log onto redbookmag.com you can send a letter to your congressperson in support of the U.S. Toxic Mold Safety and Protection Act of 2003 which has been proposed by Congr. Conyers of Michigan. Please log on and send a letter.
