School board members accused of conspiracy

LEE COUNTY, March 12, 2004— A former internal auditor for the Lee County School District brought strong accusations against the school board under sworn testimony. Martha said school board members allegedly conspired behind closed doors. All five elected officials on the school board face a range of accusations, from breaking laws to knowingly exposing students to toxic mold.

In court documents she was asked about the accusations by an attorney. A. They had scripted out board meetings, the first couple of board meetings.Q. These four?A. YesQ. She says is a spurned ex-employee."I have, the only time I have had closed door meetings is when an attorney was in the room and it was, everything was legal and above board. And I would warn anyone to make such accusations they better be able to back them up," said Dozier.'s testimony is for a lawsuit about another whistleblower, the district's former safety director.But several attorneys are attempting to use the document to fight more cases over air-quality issues."There are certain things she testified that private contractors aren't doing their jobs correctly and the politicians, instead of making the private contractors do that work, they're taking money away from maintenance funds that should be used to get rid of mold," said attorney Beckman."There were some things not completed properly and they had to go back and redo them… That's when Dr. was here," said Kuckel.Kuckel says those problems were under the previous superintendent, Dr. . They were problems of the past she claims don't apply now.Several more allegations were also in the testimony, relating to late school buses, fire codes and even the use of technology for allegedly arranging secret discussions.
