Guest guest
I read these two (2) messages in another forum about mold. I thought that the more people that read them, the better the chances that the gentleman who posted them may find someone who can help. I know it's a " long shot " , but certainly worth a try! The messages, exactly how they were written, follow: quote= " K_Ingram " ]My wife's father is in UCSF Hospital in San Francisco due to a mold infection. He travels alot, and last he traveled to Vietnam to stay for awhile. While in Vietnam he explained that he had stroke-like symptoms and went to see a doctor there, they prescribed him 2 things but he cant remember what they were. Weeks later he came back to the U.S. with the leftside of his face paralyzed and everyone had thought he had a stroke at first. He was finally admitted to the hospital where they found out he actually had a fungal/mold infection that had began in his left ear then spread to the leftside of his brain. It damaged the nerves to the point where that side of his face was paralyzed. The hospital has him on multiple antibiotics and has taken samples twice and done a number of tests including spinal taps, x-rays, brainscans, etc. however it still seems to be spreading. The mold has taken over the entire leftside of his brain and is now moving to his rightside. He is deaf in the left ear, blind in the left eye, and has trouble speaking (slurred speech). He has always had diabetes, so now this infection in combination with diabetes is terrible. He has a 50/50 chance of living the doctors said, and it's spreading so quickly that if they cannot stop the growth of this fungus within the week, his quality of life and chances of living at all are very slim. I think it is some rare breed of mold that is native to Vietnam, which could be why they are having so much trouble trying to stop its growth, as the antibiotics dont seem to be working. The doctors have also said that there is a chance that whatever the doctors in Vietnam gave him back when he first began experiencing the symptoms could still be affecting him and possibly keeping the antibiotics from kicking in, but they cant figure out what it was that he was prescribed over there. I know this is a long shot coming onto the internet but any chance at all is worth taking. I've spent the entire morning on google looking up different search terms and searching tons and tons of different sites looking for help with no luck. It seems to be near impossible to find information on such an odd breed of mold, we're assuming it's native to Vietnam. ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY TIME SENSATIVE ISSUE!
