Not safe at all. I had my condo completely remediated. At the time I bought it, there was no surface mold present. It was inside the walls. If there is surface mold, there is probably mold underneath. You must leave there immediately. You will risk developing permanent lung disorders among other things. I remediated and went on medications, hoping that I could safely live here until I could sell. I have been in two emergency rooms in a week because my lungs filled with fluid as a result of my allergy to mold. It takes a really long time to recover (if ever) and your life is strangled much more than just the incovenience of leaving your four walls. I have done it all and experienced it all. Get out now. Pure and simple. Protect yourself first.

Subject: [] Is this safe????

I had notified my landlord that the mold was back and that myself and my boyfriend were experiencing headaches, sinus problems, skin rashes etc and sent him a letter explaining that I wanted to have the mold professionally tested and cleaned. The landlord was just around at my apartment with someone, who said that the mold was "surface mold", on the outside walls of the house, caused by the heat hitting the cold walls, turning into water and causing mold. He said that it just had to be wiped off. He brought a steam cleaner and a solution with him to clean the place, but I had told my boyfriend that I didn't want them doing any cleaning until the mold had been tested. He is at the moment trying to install a new heating system and has told us to get a humidifier which will solve the problem. It just sounds a bit Mickey Mouse to me, I thought that by just cleaning the mold off, you risked creating an aerosol that could worsen the situation, and is it hazardous for this cleaning to be done while we are still living and sleeping in the house, the majority of the mold is in the bedroom. My boyfriend has suggested that we get a mold testing kit ourselves and get it testes, but I feel it is the repsonsability of the landlord. Should we go ahead and let them clean the apartment, is it safe??In a panicLorraineFAIR USE NOTICE:This site contains copyrighted material the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner.
