Guest guest
This info was recently posted on the National School Nurse listserve regarding carpet and asthma... Giving Carpets a Second Thought, Part I: When Health Takes Precedence over Décor. Asthma Magazine, Nov/Dec, 2000. Giving Carpets a Second Thought, Part II: The Effects of Carpeting in Our Schools. Asthma Magazine, Jan/Apr, 2001. (available from Healthy Kids: The Key to Basics www.healhty-kids.info) Most allergists recommend removing carpets as an allergy control and prevention strategy. Another source of good information is www.healthyschools.org Please note that it is not possible to implement universal precautions when rooms are carpeted. Storing, preparing food and eating in carpeted areas attracts bugs. Water and other liquids in carpets promote mold, etc. Hope this is useful.
