Question on mold/ Mobile homes

I have a question about Mobile Homes/ Trailers. Do they commonly

tend to pose a problem with mold growth? Does anyone know if

different types or constructions or better? I live in Baton Rouge,

Louisiana and almost every store I go to has stained ceiling tiles.

It is really upsetting to see this, because these are new

construction buildings that I have seen stained tiles in less than 2-

3yrs of being built (ex. big chain drugstores, restaurants, movie

rental shops, fast food chains, even in stores in the Malls). It is

honestly everywhere I go. Well back to the point of my question. I

need to find a place to live that I can afford. I am receving a

disability pension. I have thougt about purchasing a mobile home

(new or in good shape) because the rent I can afford is not in the

best part of town and they are pretty run down and not well

maintained. Any insight about mobile homes would be greatly

appreciate?

Thanks

Good Morning ,

Mobile homes...that is those that are preassembled and moved as single wides

or as double wides. Come in many different construction(s). Most are if over

12 yuears old with potential water damage unless well cared for. The materials

used earlier were sheet metal with overlaps that opened up and allowed rain

to enter. Which soon rotted the interior walls and wood studs. Especially

around and under windows. The roofing had seams that needed reseal each

two years. if neglected it added to damage and potential for rot and molds inside

the walls. Some were condensed water damaged due to porr insulation. The

base of the walls and the flooring would rot and become sources for mold.

Newer construction has cured many of these ailments. However it is still a

problem one needs to be aware of. Condensation in any home must be prevented

by venting and lowered humidity..i/e under 50%.

Hope this helps you!
