Guest guest
I have just received an environmental report on my workplace. Not a pretty picture. Below are some of the " critters " that I have been inhaling, ingesting and living with for 15 plus years. I have had to file for Workman's Comp, long-term disability with my employer and disability with the South Carolina State Retirement System. It is a real " hot potato " and no one wants to hold it. I have contacted an attorney for my Workman's Comp claim and waiting for the next step. All three groups are evaluating my claim. I have made the environmental report available to all three that currently have claims against them. After depleting all of my earned sick and annual leave, my employer put me on unpaid leave on March 22, 2004. As you probably know, if you are having similiar problems, you won't get much help from anyone but yourself. I now have OSHA involved and have put together a very in-depth news release for possible use in the future. I would just encourage all of the sufferers of exposure to mycotoxin producing mold to not give up! Keep pursuing your cause and continue to share with others. The day is coming when industry and businesses will realize the problem that we are dealing with. Only then will the workers be assured of a safe working environment. I have a site of my own about my experiences so far with the mold issue. Lots of photos and other info there. Please feel free to check it out and share anything that you might have of interest in your case. Maybe we can all ban together to help others. Here is a snapshot of the environmental report. I hope to publish it in it's entirety to my site. After seven (7) months of persistance, I finally received an environmental report on the facility where I have been employed for the last 15 years. From what I can glean from the report (I am not a scientist) it looks like lots of unhealthy stuff was found in the building. I am going to list a few as taken from the report. Aspergillius/Penicillium - Like 10,667 spores/m3 Cladosporium - 356 spores/m3 Basidiospores - 356 spores/m3 Ascospores 800 spores/m3 Basidiospores- 20,000 spores/m3 Smuts - Myxomycetes/Periconia 267 spores/m3 Alternaria - 44 spores/m3 Amerospores - 200 spores/m3 Aspergillius/Penicillium - Like 756 spores/m3 Basidiospores - 67 spores/m3 Cladospoirum - 89 spores/m3 Curvularia - 22 spores/m3 Pithomyces/Ulocladium 22 spores/m3 Smuts/myxomycetes/Periconia- 44 spores/m3 Cladosporium- 37,000 CFU/Gram Penicillium - 8,000 CFU/Gram TOTAL 45,000 CFU/GRAM These are only some of the sample testing results taken from the full report. I am seeking some expert to explain these results to me and the health dangers posed. Don Fortner
