Guest guest
e, I was just sharing some information after comparing some fees in the SE. But frankly I have no problem with having a surgeon who truly understands what I am going through and one who has probably made an unwise choice at some point in her life. I have made my choices and mistakes, and one of the biggest is getting implants. While Dr. Kolb may still consider her implants to have been a good or bad choice, it is still her choice. Being a counselor, I still prefer counselor from a person who has had a taste of life's problems and freely admits that their life is less than ideal. I wish you well, and I will inform Dr. Kolb of your response However I was only sharing what I had found out to compare the fees you were charged. Thanks for answering my question. \. However, I don't think Dr. Kolb will be interested in using her time to debate this with you furtheer. Nor will I. ----- Original Message ----- From: e Rene' M.E. Furthermore, why would I travel across the country when I have an excellent ps in my own backyard? In addition, my surgical copay was only $100. That's all I ever paid for my explant. The rest was covered by insr. Dr. Huang billed the insr company $3500--what she was reimbursed, I don't know. All I know is that I paid my $100 and that's all I was responsible for. Also, obtaining precert for any surgical procedure in no way guarantees payment of benefits. 99.9% of insr companies will precert/preauth a surgery, but when they actually receive the claim, they can turn around and deny it--especially PPO's. I've had BC/BS and Great West Life and Annuity, and I've been burnt by them big time. Hence the reason I am suing Great West in federal court. On the other hand, since 1992, I've had nothing but HMO's, and they have been wonderful. They have never failed to pay a claim, nor have they given me a hassle, other than the explant. But I appealed that decision and they reversed their decision. I am very well versed in insurance coverage issues, and since the filing of my federal lawsuit, have learned even more about the devious practices of insr companies. In addition, a close friend of mine from high school has a very high rated position with Cigna, and he frequently informs me of what his own company is doing, as well as provides me with suggestions as to how to handle various insr companies. If Dr. Kolb wants to pursue this issue with me, you may tell her to contact me privately. e ----- Original Message ----- From: M.E. Wilkins e Cc: eckymae@... For a surgery that takes 90 minutes: self pay rates would be $3000 for the explant and $1270 for the OR and anesthesia for a total of $4270 plus pathology and labs which are usually covered by insurance. Dr. Kolb also gets insurance coverage for about 80% of saline patients because she has experience as an insurance reviewer for two major companies. If you, e considered Dr. Kolb, she might have been able to get insurance coverage with even less of a copay. Because I am blessed with health coverage from my employer and my spouse's, I am not having to prepay any money. I too have had experience in working with group claims insurance dept as well as with utilizing all forms of medical coverage in the provision of rehabilitation services to cover all forms of usual medical, psychiatric, etc. needs. It is unfortunate that we as consumers have so much confusion about insurance, and I frankly glad that I had Dr. Kolb to pursue the pre-certification. Hope you find this information informative and useful to share with others seeking a PS for holistic practice. God Bless, -----Original Message-----From: S.
