Nocturnal Seizures, Depakote, Headaches...

Tracey and anyone interested,

My daughter complained of a lot of headaches around the same time I

noticed seizures at night. After we added Depakote the headaches and

backaches went away. Depakote is also used for people with migraines. Since

that time we did a 6-week high-dose valium treatment which totally normalized

her EEG (from continuous spiking to totally normal). She had continuous

spikes and waves during slow wave sleep. We are now weaning depakote and

during the wean she has complained of headaches on two occasions a few days

after a reduction. Maybe it is withdrawals. Her personality and " smarts "

are returning after 2.5 years of being lethargic and uninterested in

anything. Even if the seizures return I don't know if I could go back to

meds.
