Guest guest
We are so happy that You are willing to help us. In Finland most people know very little about breast implants and their risks. Still they keep buying them. In The U.S.A You have FDA, but in our country there is no such control. That's why we are trying to tell people about possible complications. So far there have been about 230 000 readers on Silikonitieto.net, and we think that almost half of them are outside of Finland. You got so much experience and knowledge in the United States. We really would like to bring it to Europe too. I agree that there should not be any plastic surgeries accepted in beauty contests. Then it would only be a contest of plastic surgeons. One of my favorite articles is " All Women have Beautiful Bodies " : http://www.uppitywomen.net/bimage.html The beauty Queens are very popular in Finland. They get lot of attention and people listen to what they have to say. They are very remarkable role models for young women. My dear friend Stella has got almost 100 votes in just few hours. I'm sure that You people here at Saline Support are the ones I have to thank also for this great thing. You are so wonderful. If votes keep coming this way, it's possible that Stella will soon be Miss Finland. Then she would have lot of publicity and a very special chance to tell everybody about the risks of breast implants and other cosmetic surgery. With my best wishes, Helena =) From: " ~*Patty*~ " <fdp@...> Reply- < > Subject: Re: Breast implants BANNED in Miss Finland Contest Date: Wed, 5 Feb 2003 10:08:25 -0800 Helena, Thank you so much for letting us know more about you. I wondered when you first posted about your website where you were located and what your agenda was. I am really glad Martha has been helping you out, and I am very impressed with your desire to help women in Finland. I hope that Finnish girls will become very educated about the risks of breast implants (of all kinds) with the very important work you are doing there! Thank you for your dedication! I think the trend in which there is much pressure to let Miss Finland have breast implants is not a good one at all. Beauty pageants should be about natural beauty, not fake or contrived beauty from foreign objects in the body, or piercings, tattooing, etc. I am not really a fan of beauty pageants generally, except for the fact that the women are given opportunities for doing good and spreading goodwill among people of other countries, and obtaining scholarships for education. I am totally against pageants for any other purpose. So, you can see, with the ulterior motive being for the goodwill of mankind, implants are a perversion of that purpose. It sounds like the pageant is a very big deal in Finland, much more than in America. I wish your friend the best success, and I will help in any way I can. Keep up the good work of educating Finnish women about the dangers of implants, and I do hope that breast implants will stay banned in that contest. We have website called www.silikonitieto.net It's located in Finland, Northern Europe. I want to thank everybody who have been helping us so far - especially Martha. Our website was opened in September 2002. Today more than 230 000 readers have visited Silikonitieto.net http://www.silikonitieto.net/article.phtml?ID=16 Miss Finland must be one of the few beauty contests where it's not allowed to have breast implants. The winner will be representing Finland in Miss Universe later this spring. I think that more than half of the girls there are having implants. Right now there is lot of pressure to let Finnish girls have breast implants here in Miss Finland. What do You think about this kind of trend? One big reason for this atmosphere is that people in Finland really don't know much about the risks of silicone and saline implants. This is what we are trying to change. One of my best friends was last week chosen to be one of the competitors in Miss Finland. Her name is Stella (=Star =)). These 10 girls were selected out of almost 1000 girls who wanted to be Miss Finland this year. This is a very big event in our country. Everyboby is watching these ladies on TV every night. The final's part one is held on Saturday this week. Then 6 girls who have got votes more than the rest 4 are going to be announced. They are going to perform in final's end on Sunday. My friend is now on place 9, so she would need a little help to be one of the 6 on Saturday. Then The Jury will decide the winner. Last year the winner was the girl who was on place 6 in voting. If You want to help her (=us) You can vote. If she is successful we will also get more publicity in Finland, neighbour countries and maybe in Miss Universe. The page for voting is here: http://www.iltasanomat.fi/viihde/missi.asp My friend: Stella Hyvönen Kilpailunumero: 3 Ikä: 20 vuotta Mitat: 172 cm, 58 kg, 94-68-95 cm Kotipaikka: Helsinki Ammatti: Sairaanhoidon opiskelija (=Nurse) Toiveammatti: Terveydenhoitaja Harrastukset: Aerobic, ratsastus, pianonsoitto Poikaystävä? On Ääniä nyt: 697/17039 (4,1%) Äänestä ja kommentoi 1. You should click this line on RED Lue kommentit ehdokkaasta Suuri kuva 2. Click the small box on the left (=Lähetä) 3. And then small OK box (=Vahvista lähetys) We are very grateful if You help us in this one. It would be so important step to let people know about the risks of breast implants. Too many young girls choose implants without knowing the possible consequences. Guest guest
You really are talking sense, ! There is never too much information about the risks of breast implants. You all are very kind helping us in many ways. My friend Stella has got hundreds of new votes. Thank You for that! She would need just a little more to be one of the 6 finalists in Miss Finland on Saturday. There is so much I would like to say to You, but my English is not very good and I have to use dictionary. That's why it always takes time to write answers. But I'm learning little by little and soon it's gonna be easier. I think that big breasts are not so desirable as they used to be. Here is one interesting article: Centrefold models getting more androgynous http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99993204 With love, Helena : ) From: " Heer " <idagirl@...> Reply- < > Subject: Re: Breast implants BANNED in Miss Finland Contest Date: Wed, 5 Feb 2003 17:15:46 -0700 Dear Helena Oh my gosh I think you are so smart about implants, however do not be fooled by the US or the FDA they are not protecting women the way they should at all. Trust me, I was totally duped by my PS, by the manufacturers, by the whole industry and now to make it worse the FDA has gone and approved the same saline implants that almost killed me, talk about rubbing salt in the wounds! Anyhow, I know it may seem like we have allot of knowledge in this country but in reality when it comes to implants and illness they really do not know much, nothing like what they should. I have had to do all my own research and was stunned to find out only a very few plastic surgeons know or at least admit, that implants are bad or dangerous to some women, let alone cause disease and hardly any of them are experienced with proper removal in sick women. It is a sad and disgusting thing. Sorry I did not mean to go on and on but I just want you to be aware that through groups like this one is how most of us found out the real truth about implants. I would love to help you any way I can and your friend too, and I pray that your country continues to ban implants from this contest, it is good to have roll models who are real and not just a bunch of the same sized, shaped, perfectly round implants. Sometimes I see something like a Miss America pageant and realize how much of a " cookie cutter " representation of women that it is. All the women here in these contests look implanted, but maybe some of it is silicone enhancers, or padding, who knows. I find it hard to believe that all those women can all be so big busted, since when I look around me, most women that are thin and in shape generally are not well endowed. I also noticed that the Cheerleaders in the NFL in particular are all huge chested. I think it must be a requirement to being a cheerleader and I think that is pretty disgusting. It just sets up our young people to feel that when they get to be 18 they must rush out to get implants. This is sad. When I was young I never even thought about my breasts or doing anything to make them better or bigger, I was happy being the size I was and thought they were perfect. I never even thought of implants till I got saggy after weight gain with pregnancy. I can't imagine having to grow up now adays with these roll models on TV and everywhere you look that are all so fake and all look the same. Anyhow I am hopeful that your website will help some others out there and that your friend will do good with her title of Miss Finland if she wins.
