I have early signs of developing prostate problems. Their is a product

called Beta Sitosterol that is supposed to be 300 times more potent than saw

palmetto. Has anyone tried it? I have ordered some from a new coop and

there is a very good report on it there. It is located at

http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/aftrack.asp?afid=14352

They only have 4 products right now but will be adding more. If enough of

us request it, maybe they will do some special supplements for children with

G-tubes?

Also, if you order anything Miracle Mountain will get a small commission

which is only 1/2 percent but it will help our kids. Their prices are

really cheap. 90-500mg Omega-3 salmon gel-caps for $1.98 and a Multi

vitamin with ginseng for $1.98.

I have been taking saw palmetto and have not seen any difference in the

swelling which is my only problem right now but I would like to do

preventive maintenance. Any other suggestions?

thanks

The European herbalist Treben highly recommends Small Flowering WIllow

Herb. She says for best results, drink " 1 heaped teaspoon 1/2 litre of

boiling water, infused for a short time (like regular tea). Only 2 cups a

day are taken, 1 cup in the morning on an empty stomach, 1 cup in the

evening, half an hour before a meal. " Go to Google and type in 'Small

Flowering Willow Herb prostate' . There's quite a bit of info.

all the best,

Rick,

You need to look into a PASS plan for Jan. I don't know how it all works,

but it allows people to work well above the SSI/SSDI limit and still retain

their medicaid coverage ( a huge concern) My bosses son who is 33, has

worked at Microsoft in the mailroom for 10 years, he makes well above minimum

wage, but still retains his medicaid eligibility. There are some things out

there to make that happen :-)

I think you misread the previous post. na stated that HSS is the

#2 hospital in the country. I suspect that she's quoting from this:

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/hosptl/rankings/specihqorth.htm

While we're on the subject, one of the most interesting values on the

chart is Nurse to Patient ratio. For spine surgeries, the higher

values would definitely be more desirable.

As far as I know, there's no ranking of physicians. There is

" America's Top Doctors " (a book and website). I was at a physician's

house this weekend, and noticed that he had a plaque from ATP. I

asked about it and he said that he got it because he donated a lot of

money. I honestly don't know whether he was yanking my chain or not,

but I would take any ranking of physicians with a grain of salt. For

every doctor, no matter how great, you're bound to find a few patients

who had horrible outcomes. And, for every hack, I'm sure you'll find

patients who think that they're gods.

My knee cap was out of place becasue of the lateral muscle...which is why they

cut it...and that being out of place is what rubbed the cartliage which caused

all the probelms for the CP...but no the x-rays never showed anything...even the

bone since it was under the knee cap...But they seem to think that the bone

being damaged had to be due to a fall directly on that knee, where all of my

weight was focused...but i don't remember a time that i fell on my

knee...basically the only pain I have now is from where he drilled out the bone.

If it does not repair itself by summertime he is going to go back in and drill

out more bone and try to fix it that way. But I really trust my doctor and i

think that is what really matter's. He is the team doctor as well for the

Tennessee Titans (NFL Football team) and has done wonders for some of the

players so i beleive he will have me back running around in no time...and i hope

so becuase i am only 24. But i really don;t think that i have a lot of the CP

symptoms anymore which is a blessing becuase it was aggraving, now i just have

other probelms i need to fix...

cap was out of place, couldn't they have known this from just feeling around; or

even just looking at your knee before surgery? Did they tell you how and why the

bone was missing? and was this the main contributing factor ofor your CP?

showed that everything looked fine. My MRI showed that some of the cartlidge was

damaged. Once in my knee there was much more damage than anticipated. So i

reccommend surgery if there is any doubt. I ended up having a lateral release

because my knee cap was majorly out of place. Had lots of catlage removed and

ended up having a large piece of bone missing under neath my knee cap. I may

have to have a second sugery to replace that. But i was told that I was lucky to

still be as active as i was before surgery becasue it was so bad...However, we

would have never known if i would not have had surgery since the MRI or X-Ray

didn't show anything. I am not 5 months post op and have began working out

again...I still can not run or jump but I am able to be active and a majority of

the pain is gone and the only pain i have left is from my bone...GOOD LUCK

You are welcome, GL. Yes, I mean the kind you can get in a store, but rather

than opting for something like " Rice Crispies " , look for an organic puffed rice.

The ONLY ingredients should be " organic puffed rice " . Most rice is " enriched "

which means sprayed with all sorts of " vitamins " of questionable origin, so

opting for an organic brand will avoid such things. You can also find organic

puffed millet, puffed quinoa, etc. I find them at Earth Fare and Greenlife and

Whole Foods-they are usually in a bag, rather than a box, and are usually found

on the lower shelves where the regular cereals are. Having a plain " base " such

as puffed rice, allows YOU to choose what goodies-berries, dates, nuts, seeds,

etc. go in to it!

> When you say organic puffed rice, do you mean the kind you buy in the grocery

store? I always like that.
