Breast implants BANNED in Miss Finland Contest

My name is Helena and me and my friends are trying to find and

publish information about risks of breast implants. We have website

called www.silikonitieto.net It's located in Finland, Northern

Europe. I want to thank everybody who have been helping us so far -

especially Martha. Our website was opened in September 2002. Today

Miss Finland must be one of the few beauty contests where it's not

allowed to have breast implants. The winner will be representing

Finland in Miss Universe later this spring. I think that more than

half of the girls there are having implants. Right now there is lot

of pressure to let Finnish girls have breast implants here in Miss

Finland. What do You think about this kind of trend?

One big reason for this atmosphere is that people in Finland really

don't know much about the risks of silicone and saline implants. This

is what we are trying to change. One of my best friends was last week

chosen to be one of the competitors in Miss Finland. Her name is

Stella (=Star =)). These 10 girls were selected out of almost 1000

girls who wanted to be Miss Finland this year. This is a very big

event in our country. Everyboby is watching these ladies on TV every

night.

The final's part one is held on Saturday this week. Then 6 girls who

have got votes more than the rest 4 are going to be announced. They

are going to perform in final's end on Sunday. My friend is now on

place 9, so she would need a little help to be one of the 6 on

Saturday. Then The Jury will decide the winner. Last year the winner

was the girl who was on place 6 in voting.

If You want to help her (=us) You can vote. If she is successful we

will also get more publicity in Finland, neighbour countries and

maybe in Miss Universe.

We are very grateful if You help us in this one. It would be so

important step to let people know about the risks of breast implants.

Too many young girls choose implants without knowing the possible
