Subject: Tragic loss of another sister ... Addie Dee Parks

Dee and her beloved husband, Mark, have been active in our support group for years. This is the message I just received from one of her best friends in our group, , who had planned to visit her this weekend.

EXCERPT:

Dee just recently finally had made it through all the surgeries...the silicone removal and then reconstruction. Since, she's been having a bad time with her lungs filling up and battling the Sojourns, but then she stabilized for a while. Her immune system hasn't been able to battle it well. There was a flare up though, and last month she was in the hospital. She was in intensive care, but finally came home 2 weeks ago. She was making improvements enough that they could reduce the nursing care late last week.

Her daughter said that last night suddenly her lungs filled up, but then her heart filled with fluid too. She collapsed. Mark, her husband, worked CPR on her and called the paramedics. They were there instantly within 1 1/2 minutes and worked on her, then took her to the hospital, but she was only alive with a respirator. The Drs. said that there was no way that she could recover. Dee had already made the choice against life maintained mechanically only. She would never have wanted it that way, if it ever came to that. They honored her wishes and turned off the respirator. So they let her go.
