I just had to say something about this to the cancer.gov website!

Dear Sir,This statement, when read alone is quite alarming, wouldn't you say?"When the NCI researchers compared the risks for the implant patients with the general population, they found that the implant patients were two to three times more likely to develop stomach cancer, leukemia, and cancers of the cervix, vulva and brain."

Yet, the headline on this article seems to make the casual reader think that implants are not associated with disease. http://www.cancer.gov/newscenter/silicone-othercancers

I would think that as an entity concerned about the possible causes of cancer and the eradication of this disease, there would be more emphasis on the alarming causation connection of implants and cancer, rather than a smoothing over of this possible connection, especially as more and more young women have chosen to get implants. I am highly offended at your casual attitude about this. Have you been around this disease called cancer so long that you no longer fear it? Is the idea that breast implants cause only one or two cancers not such a big deal because they don't cause all of them? Or maybe you have some political agenda to covet--is that why it is more important to say that implants don't cause most cancers, rather than to trumpet the fact that they are associated with brain cancer--BRAIN CANCER FOR GOD'S SAKE--isn't that serious? That's the idea I get, and I say that to your shame. Sincerely, Faussettfdp@...
