Subject: Update on previous Alert

*****Texas Campaign for Women's Health Alert*****Please distribute widely!!!

Help keep women from receiving false information about breast cancer -- Part 2.5...In this message:1) HB 15 UPDATE2) Reminder: Waiver hearing Monday also**********************************************Dear Advocates,Things move fast around the capitol. Unfortunately, I just found out that Rep. Villareal might not present a substitute bill for HB 15. The most likely scenario for Monday will be a substitute by Corte that, again, retains the misinformation about a link between breast cancer and abortion. If you have already sent me a letter, that's ok--All of your letters have explicitly requested removal of this language, and I can still include it with my written materials. If you have not sent a letter yet, please do NOW. Your input may be the only way to strike that language out of the bill before it leaves committee.Fax me your letters at (512) 448-3373. Contact for House State Affairs Committee members is below. ********************************2) Also, if you have not sent a letter in support HB 2606 calling for a Medicaid Waiver for Women's Health--you still have time to do so. Alternatively, you can come by the hearing to sign a witness affirmation in support of the bill. The hearing is scheduled for 2:30 pm in Capitol Extension room 2.014.Many thanks for all your efforts,Lesley

WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW:1) Call or fax the members of the House State Affairs Committee TODAY and urge them to strike language that refers to a link between breast cancer and abortion. (Contact info for the committee members is included below)2) Fax a letter to me to submit to the committee at the hearing on Monday. You could fax a letter to my office over the weekend, or by 9:30 am Monday at 512-448-3373. Email me at Lramsey@...3) Come to the hearing Monday to testify against the inclusion of a reference to a link between abortion and breast cancer in any bill they choose to pass. If you live in the district of a member of the committee, it will make a bigger impact. The committee is currently scheduled to meet at 2:30 pm in the Capitol Extension room E2.010House State Affairs Committee Members:Chair: Rep.
