Subject: Your testimony Monday will help get waiver bill passed,

Dear Coalition partners,HB 2606, by Rep. (D-Houston)--a bill calling for the state to apply for the Medicaid Waiver for Women's Health-- is scheduled for a hearing in the House Human Services Committee on Monday. I am working with Rep. 's office to round up people to testify for its passage. Your input would very much help this bill move along. The hearing is scheduled on Monday for 2:30 pm in the Capitol Extension room E2.014.Please contact me if you can come and just say a few words on behalf of your organization, or as an individual, in support of the bill. Call me at 512-448-4857 or email me at Lramsey@....Info on the bill follows. Please distribute his info widely! Also, contact me if you need more info on the bill or the waiver.LesleyThe bill calls for the establishment of a demonstration project -- through the application of an 1115 Medicaid Waiver -- to expand women's health care services. Women 18-years or older with an income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level would qualify for services including: (1) medical history; (2) physical examination; (3) counseling and education on contraceptive methods; (4) provision of contraceptives; (5) health screenings, including screening for: (A) diabetes; (B) cervical cancer; © breast cancer; (D) sexually transmitted diseases; (E) hypertension; (F) cholesterol; and (G) tuberculosis; (6) risk assessment; and (7) referral of medical problems to appropriate providers. The bill calls for a simplified eligibility process and 12-months continuous eligibility for women who qualify. It's a great bill and you can help it pass!
