Well folks, this is it: the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee has reported Sen. Domenici's heinous energy bill, meaning that it will hit the Senate floor next week for debate, amendments, and — hopefully, possibly — death. The time to act is now! We must voice our opposition to this anti-consumer, anti-environment package of big business give-aways!

This harmful Senate bill repeals vital electricity consumer protections, allowing for the expansion of deregulation and more Enron-style schemes. The bill also encourages nuclear irresponsibility by offering public funds to develop new reactors, promoting nuclear waste reprocessing, and extending liability protection to nuclear plant operators. This legislation does not do enough to decrease oil consumption in this country and promote renewable energies.

This legislation must be stopped! You can help by contacting your Senators!
