Guest guest
, There are so many colon cleansing products out there, it makes your head spin! I can only tell you what I did, as I really don't think I can give a recommendation for any one product. I have tried several, but ultimately, I discovered that there are some very pricey products out there, and then there are some very natural and inexpensive ways to accomplish the same goal. I guess it just depends on what you are willing to spend, and what you are willing to put up with in inconveniences. To tell you the truth, I find the sheer number of products for colon cleansing unbelievably daunting! Talk about overload! I first got introduced to the idea of cleansing the colon after seeing my naturopath in Tucson. He was the one who put me on a fast, then told me to do coffee enemas. As I have mentioned a few times before, I thought he was a little off his rocker to tell me to do such a thing, and I said, No Way! But I did go ahead and see a colonic therapist during my 5 day fast, and had my first colonic. I was quite surprised at how productive it was, as I hadn't eaten in 3 days, so I learned pretty quickly that it takes more than fasting to clean out the colon. But obviously, if you are going to be doing a 30 day colon cleansing program, you aren't going to be fasting, or are you for a part of that time? I am not very familiar with colon cleansing programs that do not include fasting as part of the program. I guess it just makes sense that if you want to clean out the colon, you have to stop filling it up too. That might or might not narrow down your list of products that you are willing to try, you might want to consider doing a 7 day cleansing program instead that focuses more on fasting and moving things out. The products I have used include psyllium seed husks, bentonite clay, AIM's Herbal Fiberblend, Awareness products, and Dr. Bernard Jensen's protocol (in his book on tissue cleansing through bowel management)using a colema board. The Herbal Fiberblend had the added benefit of being anti-parasitic, but it tasted pretty nasty. I only bought some of the Awareness products because my brother in law was raving about how good they were, but I found that they were very pricey, and I didn't feel they had any special added benefit to me personally. I have heard other people rave about Awareness products however. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money when I knew fasting, herbs and colonics produce similar results. The bentonite clay (Sonne's No. 7) made my brain fog worse. I am not sure why. It may have had something to do with the fact that it is an earthen product, and my body didn't like those kinds of things in my body anymore, I don't know. I still have a bottle of it left, and I may give it another shot here soon to see if I get the brain fog again. I also used an antiparasitic tincture containing black walnut hulls and wormwood, that stuff was nasty. I actually could not continue to take it. I used garlic instead, as well as raw pumpkin seeds, which are supposed to kill parasites. My main way of cleansing the colon has been to fast, do enemas, and occasionally, do a liver cleanse. That uses magnesium citrate, or epsom salts, and that totally cleaned the pipe out by the next morning, guaranteed. It wasn't very fun, though! You might want to consider checking out some of the other on the whole idea of bowel cleansing. I read posts on bowel cleanse for probably a year or so, and that is where I heard about alot of the products, how they worked, what didn't work, what to expect, etc. There were quite a number of horrifying stories as well, stuff that totally blew my mind! A couple ladies who did various colon cleansing therapies were implant sisters through Ilena's original support group, and they told me about finding thingies in the toilet bowl afterwards that had moving legs, or were squirmy worms. I am not kidding! If you are reacting like I did, it totally grossed me out! I don't think I would want to know if that stuff was in there! Anyway, I hope this helps you out some. It is hard to know what to use, but this is one of those things that takes investigation, asking alot of questions from those who have used different products, or just deciding to go the most natural route possible and skipping all the fancy stuff. It is totally a personal decision. Good luck! Guest guest
Sue, haven't tried any but do think that they may help. when I had to do that for a colonopsy it first made my stonach hurt really bad (raw felling) after it had cleaned me out, but did notice that about a day later I felt overall, better for about a week. lol's, I wouldn't want to go through that to often, but maybe these would be a little more mellow.? > > Has anyone seen the ads for these colon cleansers recently? Guest guest
I agree, the colonoscopy prep is awful especially the liquid you have to drink. I have looked at the different colon cleansers that I have recently seen. Not really for myself but for my daughter. She isn't sick, I've had her take the VCS test but she is only 24, lives in an apt. which I have been in without any problems. I just worry constantly about her wondering if she will be affected someday like myself. I thought she could use the OTC cleansers to avoid any future problems. I don't think it would hurt but I don't know if she even consider taking it. Guest guest
I was told its best to take these ingredients one thing at a time not all mixed together which is risky. I take milk thistle all the time for gallbladder pain and have great luck with it. Go very slow and be careful. Alice ssr3351@... wrote: Has anyone seen the ads for these colon cleansers recently?
