foreign objects in the body

A friend of mine who just had angioplasty (a stint placed in an artery in his chest near his heart that collapsed) just took a class provided by the hospital for stint patients.

The purpose of the class? To inform patients of what to watch out for because, quote, "Whenever you place a foreign object into the body, you get inflammation and other problems can result."

I wonder if they "scientifically" proved that!!!
