Guest guest
Have a great vacation Betty!! Can you stick me inside a suitcase and take me with??? I could soooooo use one :-) Have a safe trip! Where are you going? Tracey Vacation Hey all, Just wanted to say that I am going on vacation and I’m putting all my lists on no mail, (I’m on a lot) Don’t want to come home to an overflowing inbox. Right now we’re talking 2 weeks but it maybe longer. So I am tying up any loose ends today. It’s amazing how much you have to do before a trip. Gl to all who are getting new casts and gl to the ones who maybe will be placed in braces. Hope things go well for everyone here on the list. See ya when I get back. Guest guest
Thank you Tracey, Don’t know if there’s room, you know how it is? Gotta have enough clothes for fun, going out to dinner, you know, 5 outfits for 1 day. Lol. We’re going up to Superior WI, it’s on the top of Wisconsin, right on Lake Superior. My boyfriends family lives in that area. And yes we need a vacation, especially my boyfriend, he’s been under so much pressure from his job and the people he worked with. See you all when I get back. Guest guest
Have a great weekend hun ! Enjoy the holiday Vacation I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend, or day off, which ever applies. Everyone needs to say a prayer for those who have made freedom possible and are still fighting to keep us free. I'm going dial up till Wednesday so I won't be checking anything but work e-mails. The beach is a calling and my wife deserves a nice quiet long weekend. Love you all and just really can't express what it means to see the sharing and posting that goes on here. God bless you all and have a Happy Fourth!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Don, Freezing them will cause them to require a four day recovery. It won't hurt them to be frozen for that short time period. If I were you, I'd still do the experiment with half in the frig and half in the freezer. You can compare the recovery time. Guest guest
Hi Irene, If you will be gone only a week, I'd put them in two or three times the amount they are used to in a 48 hour brew and leave them on the counter. If you'll be gone for two weeks, I'd dry half of them and the other half put in the refrigerator in some sugar water. In my experience drying is less offensive to them than cold storage. So do both and see what works best. Guest guest
I flew from Seattle back to Ann Arbor for my 6 week check up after my ICD implant last September. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a sign at each security check to let the staff know if you had a "pacemaker". I had my ICD card out, motioned to the attendant that I had a "pacemaker" (I think they understand that one better) and they didn't even want to see the card but professionally took me aside, "patted me down" and sent me on my way. Because I was traveling alone, they were alert to get my carryon items off the conveyor and in my view before conducting the pat down. No hassle at all; I was impressed, given all our "war" stories about security people these days. This all went well on both legs of the trip. Bill on In a message dated 2/11/2008 12:38:12 P.M. Guest guest
Hi . I'd like to add a tip I picked up somewhere along the line. When you tell them that you can't go thru the metal detector, tell the you have a "pacemaker". I made the big mistake once by saying defibrillator. What a big mistake that was! Half of them don't know what a defibrillator is or even an ICD. So in my experience I just point to my chest say "pacemaker" and I've never had a problem. Good luck and have a great flight! Guest guest
These are some great tips here. I however, now just go through the arch and hardly ever set it off, I am then on my way. If I do set it off, I just tell them I have an ICD. They now know what it is and most of them know now NOT to use the WAND. I still ask for a "hand search" If I set off the security alarm. However, if I am in a foreign country I do say "pacemaker" and point to my chest -- nearly everyone understands that. Whether or not I set the arch off is determined on what sensitivity level they have it set at. The Courthouse seem to be more sensitive then the airports! Good luck to you AND have a GREAT trip! ~guin Re: Vacation >> I will be traveling from cold & snowy Ohio to Florida in March for the > first time since I've had my defibrillator. Guest guest
Did you get an ID card in the paperwork with your defibrillator? You should carry it with you in your wallet, not only for airports but in case of emergencies, then can tell right away what type you have and what type of lead it is. When you get to the security check, tell them you need a " pat down " or " hand check " . Don't let them use the wand. The magnetometer (metal detector) won't cause your defibrillator to shock you but the magnetic field will interrupt the function of the device while you are in it. If the field is strong enough (like an MRI) it can damage the unit. As soon as you leave the magnetic field, the device will go back to functioning normally. I actually have a magnet here at home that I've used to temporarily turn off my defibrillator when it shocked me inappropriately. On another note, where in Florida will you be? I ask because I'm putting together a support group in the North Miami area for cardiac patients with defibrillators and pacemakers. I'm just waiting to get a few more people to confirm they are interested and then we'll set a date. If you're going to be in the area, please let me know if you're interested in attending. Guest guest
Hi again, i want to try the bleach/epsom salt but I think I will wait because of all the Windex i have been spraying. I am going on a road trip on Monday--all the way up to Montana-Glacier Natl Park--it is going to be expensive but so beautiful! I will do the bleach when I get back in 2 weeks. I am not taking any clothes or aything from my house except my ozone generator. We are not even driving our own car. I am bringing the ozone gen to do the car in case i feel funky. Does anyone else have any recommendations as to making my vacation bug-free? Guest guest
Lucy Good for you, you need a break and a nice vacation to a beautiful place will help you get some much needed relaxation.... We did the vacation/escape from the mites thing, only for one week though....to a cabin.... anyway I almost got rid of them while away.....if I were to redo it over again I would have taken something internally, revoxil (that parasite cleanse), salt, ivermectin something for the internal.... I would really spray the heck out of your home with windex before you leave. z > > > > > > Hi-- > > > I fogged for 3rd time w/cedarcide on Wed nite--slept > > elsewhere > > > > > > Thursday-stayed out of house til bedtime--ok nite > > > > > > Friday--bad in house during the day--ok nite > > > > > > I tried to heat treat on Saturday day > > > > > > Saturday nite spent the nite elsewhere--good nite > > > > > > Sunday day was buggy > > > > > > Sunday night was horrible in my place > > > > > > Monday night -saturated mattress and sprayed bedroom > > with Windex > > and had a very good night-slept in my place > > > > > > Tuesday -spent some time in my house during the > > day--felt a little > > buggy--sprayed entire house with Windex--but slept > > elsewhere and had > > great nite's sleep > > > > > > Wednesday (today) Sat down at computer and got bit > > very soon > > after...this is where I had saturated the area in Windex > > the night > > before. > > > > > > Today I sprayed almost all the house again with Windex > > --I need to > > wear the respirator--I am getting sick from breathing > > it.... > > > LL > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but usually grains will be okay for a week or two in the fridge. Just put them in a little milk, and drain it out, rinse them with fresh milk or filtered water (to chlorine), and start again. If it's going to be more than 2 weeks, you can freeze them in a little bit of milk. They will last a few months in the freezer. When you're ready to use them, thaw them out, rinse, and start using. They won't work the same as they did before, because they need time to recover, but they should be okay. > > > what does one do with the grains when going on vacation for over a week, or even two? > > thanks, diana >
Guest guest
We have struggled with this question in the past as well for Busch Gardens Tampa. I had a hard time with the idea, but we were able to get a full day in with me pushing around. She was very happy about the idea, and she felt better the next day. I would ask her how she feels about it. I always try to give Em the option even if it makes me feel sad. At least she feels better with the accommodations which makes us all feel a little better. And if she feels bad later you can't feel like it was your fault. The last time we went I rented a double stroller and I pushed 2 kids around by myself all day. The next day is when had that weird blistering on her feet. If I hadn't strolled her around in the stroller all day I'd have felt terrible, like it was my fault. > > Hello all, > > We are avid Walt Disney World fans. Guest guest
Anne~ There is a special pass you can get when entering the park (it's name is slipping my mind right now and it's not advertised anywhere) that will allow her whatever acommodations she needs. If you decide to rent a wheelchair...you will not need the pass...there are wheelchair access lines at most attractions. We will be getting a special needs stroller so we will need the special pass...plus my guy has some other issues that we need the pass for. Also, if your daugter is immune suppressed...they will do special 'treatments' to the room...I was amazed at what they do. Just click on " Need special accommodations for a Guest with disabilities? " when looking at the hotels. My guy wanted to go for his birthday in July...but we said no way...it's just too hot. We will be going sometime this fall...we live about three hours away...so we'll pick a cooler weekend. And I hear ya on the wheelchair...that's why we are getting the bid kid stroller instead. Good luck, and , 6, poly (04/09) plus a bunch of other stuff > > Hello all, > > We are avid Walt Disney World fans.
