Subject: You're Invited: Lunch on Loopholes and Safeguards for natural supplements on Friday June 27; please RSVP

Does it Work?:

Loopholes and Safeguards for "Natural Supplements"

You're invited to our next Fourth Fridays lunch

on Friday, June 27

Whether it's ephedra, the new "ephedra-free" fat burner, a natural alternative to hormone therapy, or pills to prevent arthritis or Alzheimers, more adults are taking "natural supplements" than ever. Perhaps you're taking one. Or two. How can you find out if they are safe or effective? Should you believe the ads? They couldn't actually lie, could they?

Join us in hearing experts talk about what we know and don't know about natural supplements, hints to help you cut through the hype when you see ads that you want to believe but suspect might not be accurate, and gain some insight into the policies that treat natural supplements much differently than over-the-counter medications or prescription drugs.

When: Friday, June 27, 12:15-1:30 pm

Featuring: Lesley Fair, JD, Senior Attorney, Bureau of Consumer

Protection, Federal Trade Commission

Zuckerman, Ph.D., President, CPR for Women &

Families

Where: Fourth Fridays are held every fourth Friday of the

month (except during holidays) at the donated

conference room of , 1301 K Street, NW

(East Tower closest to 13th Street) 11th Fl., Conference

Room 11B (2 blocks from McPherson Sq. Metro and 4

blocks from Farragut North)

RSVP: Nikki at (202) 223-4000 or info@...

CPR's Fourth Fridays lunch series is free. Just tell us you're coming and we'll save you a sandwich or salad and make sure you have a place to sit. Our goal is to provide useful information and interesting discussions among leaders from across the spectrum of life in the Washington, DC area, in an informal setting.

The National Center for Policy Research (CPR) for Women & Families provides unbiased health information by translating medical and scientific research into plain English that everyone can understand. We don't take money from companies that make the products that we analyze, and we provide our information for free to whoever wants it. On the fourth Friday of every month (except for holiday weekends), CPR hosts an informal lunch on a topic that provides "news you can use."

Thanks to Baja Fresh for providing the lunch and for providing the refreshments

and conference room!
