Sounds like Jane could use some sage advice from those on our group who had silicone gel implants.

Her address is listed. Thanks for writing her with your encouragement.

Hello

I would like to be on you list to receive info on silicone implants. Found your articles on mercola.com I have had silicone implants since April. 1990. Encapsulated right away. In the past 3 years I have begun experiencing achiness in the chest area on/off. I was told by a plastic surgeon who does many explantations that it was probably inflammation on the chest wall. He said he would be more than happy to remove them and told me that some people have improvement after explantation, some continue to get worse and some stay the same. He suggested short term anti inflammatories or explantation. This left me feeling like I probably should wait and see if things got worse or stayed the same as the alternative surgery was not the magic bullet to cure it anyway. A naturopath suggested I do hydrotherapy on my upper mid back, hot for 3 minutes then cold for 30 breaths, repeat 3x. During the cold part of the shower I am to massage my upper back by digging my fingers in between the upper scapula and also massage vigorously around the armpit area. Sounds strange but interestingly enough it seems to help. within about one week the achiness and drawing feeling in my armpits and chest area seems to subside. I have gone for almost a year since the last time till now again. I am also beginning to wonder if tanning beds helped to set off this inflammation initially I don't use them on any regular basis but generally as the summer comes I will use them on/off Whether it's just heat in general that seems to set it. Seems odd that I seem to notice that I have the symptoms more when the weather gets warmer. I also notice fatigue, feeling a tight band kind of feeling in the chest, very notable feeling of wanting to breath deeper as I will suddenly catch myself doing such shallow breathing. overall general slight nausea, stomach issues etc. I am not sure if one triggers the other .... Years ago after my implants were put in the lawsuits began. I was part of the litigation process and was followed by a rheumatologist for several years who conducted antibody tests . Nothing much came of it and the next thing I knew I had settled for 15,000.00. I should never have settled at that time. Hindsight is forsight! I keep thinking I should have them removed. What are your statistics? Any protocols to follow that have been helpful for others. Please advise Jane Halligan
