Hi don and steve,I wish my husband had your good ideas. We have a master bedroom on the first floor with its own bathroom so I want to put the bed in there. Right now its a tv/ computer room. But nooooo he doesn't want to. Why not, because it makes sense? We bought this house just so when we were old we could be on one floor. 2 years ago I had to get a new hip. So I wanted to move into that room then bit nope. I had to practically kill myself getting up the stair. Normally I would do what I want but I need him to give me my weekly shot so won't pick the hill to die on right now. But when he whipped out a hand saw and thought he was gonna "cut" the posts on the bed so it would fit I almost had a breakdown but I stayed calm and said no not a good idea. Let's wait til tomoorow. Hope you guys get a good chuckle from my message. I'm cracking up while I type. Lol. Oh Donna..  this is one of those times where you tell the hubs that he just doesn't have a clue!  Lemme guess, he utilizes that room on the ground floor doesn't he?  I vote you turn that into the master.  It's going to be so much easier for you with the bedroom and kitchen on the same level during treatment.  If you get anemic, those stairs are gonna be KILLERS for you.  You'll get halfway up and have to rest for an hour to make it the rest of the way up.  Trust me on this one..  been there done that.

Or fall from those steps. Believe me after tx gets going, it's easier to fall than go on. I have fallen SO MUCH . Hubs built ahand rail on the back porch. Helped but didn't cure from falling. I actually got bad about falling out of the bed! I would get into bed but didn't have the stregnth to get myself completely in, then the leg that wasn't in yet would buckle.. and here I go to the floor! Teri, I would have thought I would be stronger by now. I did the half finished move about. My legs are buckling all evening . Quess I need to retire my Super Woman cape. Hi Donna

Good ideas are far and few between.

If I were me.......errrr.......[that sounds funny]......anyways, thats what I would do.

I would have a 2 room house - a BIG kitchen and a bathroom, all on one level.

I mean, I dont know about at your house, but everyone I know ends up in the kitchen hanging out anyways.

A livingroom is just a dirt collector, and a bedroom Ive never really had.

In the house I live in now, I sleep in one corner of the livingroom with my computer.

The other 3 corners are - TV/stereo, piano/amps, and a couple of easy chairs for visitors.

I have a nice sized kitchen, a VERY tiny bathroom, and the bedroom is really just a large closet that I store my junk in.

Throw in my front porch, and Im set.

Down in Arkansas, where I am from, all my friends have built their homes with one big room.

Off of that is a bathroom.

We call that kind of construction - 'Hillbilly Heaven'. LOL :-)

I have a millionare friend who moved there from California, and he built his house out by the lake.

Its 3 floors tall.

Its real nice, but you have to climb 2 sets of stairs to get to the bedrooms.

Its a giant log cabin, made with deadfall trees from Canada, at a cost of one million dollars.

Who ever heard of such a thing - a million dollar log cabin?

His livingroom is big enough to put 4 of my houses in, and the kitchen holds a 12 foot table its so big.

Shucks, 50 people could live there and never crowd each other.

I wonder what him and his wife are going to do when they get old?

They are almost 70 now.

dang

TRUDY!  Don't make me put on my clown nose and come down there on my tricycle.  How long were you on treatment?  I know the answer to this so you don't have to respond.. I'm making a point.  You were on treatment for long enough for those medications to have built up in your system.  You need to let them get out before you start acting like Wonder Woman.  Your strength will come back but it takes more than a week!  JEEZ!  REST WOULD YA!

DonnaThe more and more you say about this bed, the more interesting it gets. Why not park it in that room on the main floor and just tell hubby that's your bed now; but, if he'd like to join you he's welcome.I know, my husband would not have seen the logic in it either. Close your eyes now if you are a man!!!! My mother has always said, you have to drop the idea of whatever you'd like to do and then, when it comes back as his idea - you just have to agree. Gloria,

I use that method on my boss every time I have a good idea. I plant the seed and let her think it's her idea them I get what I want and she takes the credit. But, that;s fine. Never thought to try it on my husband. Good idea though. Usually I just "tell" him what is what and that's it! I have to change my strategy while I'm on this tx. lol.

Yes, it is his man cave for sure. I have an over sized chair in there that pulls out into a twin bed so I said before I started the treatment I would sleep there or nap there if I wanted to. So I pull out the bed and get it all ready and next thing I know he's put it all away.

I cant imagine being more tired than I am right now and I am not anemic yet. But, I'm not complaining. Things are going better than I expected with the tx so far.

Your stregnth will return and so will your clarity of thinking just give it time Trudy. It may take a few months. But summer is right around the corner and by then you may be feeling better just with the change of season. Remember to still drink alot of water to help flush out the rest of those meds. 12 wks is a long time of putting those chemo type meds in your body.

My uncle who had colan cancer and took tx from March to Oct is just now feeling like he wants to do something. His last tx was the 1st wk in October. He is so excited he has hair growing on the top of his head which he hasnt had for probley 25 yrs. lol

I guess what I am saying is just rest and drink your water you will have good days and bad in between but that is your bodies way of telling you to slow down.

I said every week that that week was as bad as it could get. Then the next week it would be worst. My Dr pulled me from tx. I don't know if I could have handled more. You're going to have to give a little if you want that bedroom downstairs. If you don't want to turn that bedroom upstairs into a man cave is there another room you can give him? My hubs has a finished room in the basement. In our last house he had the whole basement. Before that he had a small bedroom. As long has he has a "place" he's happy.
