DonThe only way to prevent over-use of antibiotics is to not go to the Dr. for every little cold or whatever. Firstly, our Dr's are run off there feet as it is and so Mrs that comes every time she even sneezes, must be totally irritating.Think about when we were kids. Our mothers certainly did not run us to the Dr. for a sniffle. How the heck could she do that, went it meant packing up all the kids?? I remember so well when I was a child, if one of us got measles, all 3 of us got measles. However, I don't remember going to the Dr. about it. We just all got to sleep in our mothers bed. I say our mother because our dad was probably sailing somewhere in the Pacific

on a naval ship.Gloria

Hi Betty

Im not sure I agree with your logic, as you have explained it.

Wouldnt the body recognize the same drug weither you took it for one week or 2 weeks?

I know what you said would hold true possibly for something like opiates, but for AD's, Im not too sure.

You might be right though, Im not a doctor.

Now Teri's explaination I can understand better - not taking the AD's long enough, and ending up with a secondary infection.

In this case, the origional AD dose may not work, and one might need stronger doses.

Is this what you are trying to say?

This would be logical to me.

My reasoning about taking AB's - as needed - are all the articles over the years about over-use of AB's.

I have read where one can become immune to the AB's, and they no longer work.

This is what I have tried to avoid, and I thought under-use would be better.

What do I know. LOL :-)

I am just now learning about medicines, and health, these past two years in this group from all of you all.

Before I was DX'd with HCV in 2008, I was an ignorant superman with disablitiys.
