Wow.  I have heard of this happening but have never heard a first hand account of it.  Your doctor was basically talking you out of treatment.  Is this a GP or a Gastro?  I am just really amazed right now.  If it were me, this would be enough for me to start looking for a different doctor. And to throw in divorces....  wow.  This doctor does not want to treat hep c patients bottom line.  He has given you a lot of false information and it's really kind of scary.

Just my 2 cents...TeriOn Thu, Feb 3, 2011 at 3:40 PM, dianedellicarpini <dellcar9@...> wrote:

Don, thanks for sharing. we went and I had a list of questions. I am not sure how the doctor took this. He saw my list and it was basicaly get to it we can go fast through these. I have a different impression then my husband, off course I was the one trying to ask the questions. He siad that his odds have been about 65% with someone like my husband and that he sees his patients once a month. If my husband did not reach svr it would be another course of treatment down the road. He also strongly believed that he would not use the new drugs as he said they tend to lie about the results when they are in trial, this bothered me. He said that more likely there will be " cousins " of these drugs which will work down the road and sited the developement of HIV drugs. He made some good points but then he said these are not the questions you should be asking, you should be asking about a second opinion. That took me back as I couldn't understand where he was comming from. As I said my husband had a different take. I did get up the nerve to ask about supplements and vitamins his reply was that he does recomend milk thistle, I think I blew it when I asked about bioavailabilty.

Bottom line of all this is he said that Tom,husband, could afford to wait one or two years for treatment. Oh, he also said that lots of his people get seperations and divorces during treatment. I am going to get the supplements that we all have researched and start Tom on them to slow things down. Tom is a very passive guy, just his nature, me not so much.

Did you get warmed up? I'm in New England and the snow is almost to my waist now, had enough of it.
