Guest guest
MarieJust the fact that you are living apart does it up here. At the very least, this province does not recognize a "legal" separation. A couple is either married or living separately. The view is that it's a waste of any and every-bodies money to file for a "legal" separation. I knew that numerous years ago when it was still recognized. In other words, if you were filing papers for a separation - then you might as well go for the divorce. In our case, neither one of us good see any use to getting a divorce because I thought we both knew that there would not be another marriage for either of us.My step-children found that out not long after their Dad passed away. That's why looking after his so called estate falls to me and that just means a whole lot of paperwork for nothing but to satisfy a stupid credit union.Thank Heavens that when it came to our Income Taxes, we were able to report separately! Because then I qualified for a few things that I could not before. Such as, my prescriptions now cost me next to nothing and I don't have to pay anything for medical coverage.Gloria No we are not living together but not legally seperated or divorced Blessed be marie--------- Sent from AT & T's Wireless network using Mobile Email marie Are you reconciled with your husband??? Here in Canada, if you did not reside together by Dec 31st, then you are considered separated and would do separate Income Taxes. ________________________________ My husband wanted to file our taxes so i told him i will file them if he gave me my half up front so i could have some time alone to focus on my health if even just a month Blessed be marie--------- Sent from AT & T's Wireless network using Mobile Email ________________________________ .._,_.___ Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post | Start a New Topic Messages in this topic (13) Recent Activity: New Members 6 New Links 38 Visit Your Group
Guest guest
Gloria,Here it varies from State to State. In Texas you can be granted a no-fault divorce in 30 days. Here in Illinois a divorce takes a minimum of 2 years and a legal separation has to be part of the plan as well as counseling and mediation. California has different laws as well but it is a community property state in which half of anything marie's husband owns is now hers unless she signed a pre-nup. Guest guest
Well, one thing about the property division here. A spouse only gets 1/2 of the property "of the marriage". In other words, if one had a house etc. before getting married and say the marriage only lasts a short time, then for sure it does not get split down the middle Gloria,Here it varies from State to State.
