Don & DianeA person whose background is from India, is not Asian. Also, my Gastro is a Canadian raised Japanese Dr. and I love him to death. The clinician that I saw regularly there in the Clinic was probably even Canadian born and Chinese.I really believe and for a good reason, that these Drs from other cultures do NOT bring a prejudice with them. Many absolutely Caucasian Drs have a hard time when they are confronted with intelligent questions. Now, where I live on the west coast of Canada, you would probably be hard put to find many really good Drs that are solely Caucasian. We really are extremely multi-cultural here. An example of a Dr. that obviously does not like to be

questioned is the surgeon that did my liver resection. He is of European descent. He also doesn't seem to possess a bedside manner. However, he is one of the top transplant surgeons so I feel grateful now that he is a member of my health team.At this point, I'm going to speak for Teri if she doesn't mind. If you are searching for a 2nd opinion, try to find a Hepatologist. That's a Gastro with extra learning about Hepatitis. However, it absolutely should not matter if they are or are not pro treatment. These are the Drs that work in the field and probably know Hep C like the back of their hand. However, it will still come right down to; hopefully, an informed decision on both you and your husband's part. Keep asking the questions and don't let any of them make you feel bad. All of us have to be extremely proactive in our own health!

Hi Diane

I hear the theme song for Twilight Zone in my head reading your post. LOL :-)

I have had a few doctors from Asian countrys, and I didnt care much for them.

I suppose that there are some good ones though.

A lot of doctors from Asia come to America to study, and get a lience.

They have prestige then, and make more money when they go back home.

I will give anyone a chance, but personally Asian doctors and me never really clicked.

And its very important that you CLICK with your doctor.

The second time I applied for SS, the doctor I saw was from India [i think].

All he could say was - 'how do you know'?

To everything. It was very weird.

And I found that Asian doctors are more likely to play Dr God with a patient, because I think its a ego thing, or lack of.

And I didnt think of it, but maybe Trudy is correct, and your doctor has a cultural woman issue.

Regaurdless - you should find a new doctor who is pro patient, and pro treatment.

Most of us here have had bad experiances with a doctor, and have had to move on to another doctor.

Sooner or later you all will find a doctor that you feel comfortable with, and can talk to.

Dont stop trying until you are content.

love
