Gloria,You are the best and thank you so much. Your words are truly heart warming and sincere.LoveDonnaSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Gloria <gadamscan@...>Sender: Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2011 19:46:45 -0800 (PST)Hep C Web Warriors< >Reply Subject: [ ] Treatment + Cancer Hi EveryoneI've had this little thought cross my brain every now and then; but, tonight it kinda formed into something. When I did tx back in 2004/2005, the standard care here where I am, was the viral count just before beginning. Then, at the 12th week, another viral count and that way our medical system would let you stay on (depending on log drops) or you would have to stop. Unfortunately, no other viral count was done until 2 weeks after the end of tx. It sure would have saved me a whole lot of time and money, had they done more viral tests back then. All they know now, is that at some point, my virus mutated and thus I ended as anon-responder.However, I was selected to participate in a clinical trial in early 2009. By that time, my liver damage had sunk to cirrhosis and yet, no one can know for how long it was at that stage. Yes, the clinical was highly successful and I am now cured of Hep C. Also, you bet I had far more viral tests throughout that tx. The Pharmaceutical that was running that clinical wouldn't leave a person on it, if they were not responding properly. I know that Cheryl from Washington State is waiting for her tx to start and especially since it appears that her first liver biopsy did not tell the truth. She is another one of us that had already crossed over to cirrhosis. The bottom line that I'm saying is - tx is rough! Yup, it's no picnic in the park. But, the alternative could be far worse!! There are some of us that could very well outlive our HepC and die of old age. There are some that will actually get liver cancer. Or, the ones who's livers will just continue to die with cirrhosis until they can't function anymore. So, after the shot tonight and waking up to feeling shitty tomorrow, please remember that you are truly in a fight for your lives!! So what if the housework doesn't get done?? So what if the shopping doesn't get done?? There is something you are doing that is far, far more important!! You are fighting for your life.So there are a few of us that are here and more than willing to hold your hand, as you go through all the myriad of emotions. We know how shitty it can be; but, we made it through to the other side and so can you.Luv Gloria

Folks, if I can just add to what Gloria so eloquently just said....

Once you realize WHAT you are fighting for and that you ARE in a fight, it makes your priorities a whole lot clearer.  Who cares if the dishes are in the sink?  What matters is that you keep the little bit of strength that you have to keep on fighting the good fight.  It's a really hard fight too.  Take it as you can...  One day at a time, one hour at a time...  I did one minute at a time lots of times...

Part of making this treatment work is on  you too.  I really think that a good part of it is attitude.  You have to make up your mind that you are going to fight this damn dragon tooth and nail and that you are going to win and not the virus.

In the end, you will be able to cal hep c a hiccup.  Just like I do.  It was a hiccup in my life.  Now that sucker is gone.
