Guest guest
I've had exactly the same thing over the holidays. Mine was put down to voice strain, which I do think played a big part in things, but then I got a cold and after a week my throat actually hurt. Went back to the drs and they gave me antibiotics. Don't think they helped and I'm only just starting to get my voice back now. As says, it feels like a whole load of gunk in your throat. When the doctor checked mine out he said I had lots of mucus there. My cold had gone by then too. In fact that is the problem I still have, no cold or chest problems, just a blocked throat, so maybe my voice strain was a little more than voice strain. Anyway, it's back to work for me today so my voice is going to have to be OK. Allyson

Guest guest
Well found a very loose tooth causing gum redness and pulled it but still having sore throat. He is tired all the time. I plan to take him back in this coming week. he is making me very nervous with this tiredness. I'd have him checked out tomorrow! Be pushy if you have to and dont' take no for an answer. It's funny you mentioned the lose tooth. went to the doctor on Friday and after he went back to the waiting room, she called him back to look at his teeth. She wanted to check his gums and teeth. He has another sinus infection. Tim's been sick with what appears to be the flu..has had it for 2 weeks. He had the flu shot. He has a cough, complains of being achey and is a real PITA right now. is complaining of a sore throat and tried to see the doctor but they told her it was only a virus. She is skiing right now, but if she is still sick when she gets home, they WILL see her before she goes back to TECH this weekend. says it feels like a bunch of gunk is stuck in her throat. I thought I was coming down with something, but I think it's going to pass. TJ and Katey aren't complaining of anything right now.
Guest guest
I just wanted to let everyone know that is in the hospital. She started out with stuffy nose, cough, and I thought maybe a sore throat because every time she coughed , she cried. She ended up having viral pnemonia. And my gosh I do not even know how to spell that. But I think we caught this early enough that her hospital stay should be 3-7 days. She was such of a trooper when they were trying to find veins to put i.v. in. They ended up putting it in her head. But after they got that going she really perked up. She was looking at her hands when I left the hospital. I just wanted you to know that the first winter was the worst health wise for my son and a lot of other babies I know and they get through it just fine. Of course I have some extra gray hairs from it. His first winter he had 2 bouts of RSV and a really bad stomach flu that almost hospitalized him because of dehydration. Just hang in there. Guest guest
Jeannette, This past summer my son had a horrible sore throat that lasted for at least two weeks and he felt very tired & sick all over. It was finally decided that he had Mono. You might want to have him tested for that. (BTW, his blood test for Mono was negative, but the test for the antibodies was positive, they made the diagnosis from that.) Also, if he's been on antibiotics recently, it could be a yeast infection in his throat. They are also very painful. I hope he feels better soon. Burghardt Mom to Heidi 11 DS, Caleb 10 NDA, Corrie 9 DS and Mae 5 DS GOD BLESS AMERICA! Hi My son 14 has had the sore throat virus for 2 weeks. The doctors said its a virus no meds. He has lost about 10lbs. Down to 85lbs and still will not eat anything harder then creamed mashed potatos. I am feeding him baby food meats mixed into his applesauce. Any lumps are not excepted. I have been trying to see if it is habit at this point or still sore throat..............
Guest guest
Hi Went back to the doctor again today about sons sore throat. He checked him over again and felt that it was his reflux. Hmmmm sounds strange that the reflux would occur after the sore throat virus but hey stranger things have been known to happen he had no concern with the headache that he has had on and off with this virus. I am supposed to get him to eat(yeah right) and also have him take reflux meds again and call him in a week. Jeannette

Not only is a sore throat a sympton of strep, but so is a headache (I have a friend who's daughter would just get a headache an no sore throat) and even if he was tested a couple of weeks ago, I do hope that they retested today. Anyway hope he's feeling better soon. Joy

Guest guest
I just got home at 1:00 am. I am so tired of being at hospital. I had to come home and do a few things. Nikki was getting better. They got the phenomia gone, but now she has bronchiallituse. Not too good at spelling these names. But they had to up her oxygen. So, she is still far from coming home. She is being so good. She sure hates it when they run the tube down her to get all the uckies out. She had a 100 temp. when I left tonight. I just called my husband to see how she is doing and she was still awake. She still nurses and refuses a bottle. So, I am pretty much stuck with being with her most of the time. This is all for now. Guest guest
Joyce - I am so sorry to hear that little is in the hospital. Jimmy ended up needing an IV in his head when he was little, too.......they taped a half of a plastic cup over it so that he wouldn't pull it out, and we joked that it was the worst hat we'd ever seen!! I hope that she is feeling better soon - hospital stays are so taxing on everyone. One thing we did for Jimmy while he was in the hospital was got a small tape player (boom box type) and played music tapes for him. He really seemed to enjoy that. We also had a nightly bedtime ritual that included a sponge bath (they gave you that blue Alpha Keri oil - wonderful stuff!) - with that, his tapes and his stuffed Curious , he went right to sleep most nights in spite of all the hubbub. Guest guest
During my first BFL challenge I hurt my back and missed 2 whole weeks of workouts between weeks 8 and 10. I still met my goals and turned out all lean and muscley on picture day. :-) Life happens. You're never going to get a perfectly smooth 12 weeks. It's unrealistic to expect that. If your workouts get derailed just be extra vigilant about your eating. Remember that nutrition is 80% of your results. You can still lose fat and continue to make progress during a down time. There's no reason to worry about not finishing your challenge. Sick Hi ladies. I'm a bit stressed. My 18 mo old was sick yesterday w/ fever and throwing up. Yesterday was my cardio day, but I switched for legs since I can do that at home. I snuck it in during a her nap. Today, my husband is sick with the same thing and my daughter still has lingering tummy trouble etc. So... I may not be able to do my cardio today and it will be a miricle if I don't come down with the virus. I guess I'm looking for someone to tell me that it's ok to skip 1 or 2 workouts because I'm feeling VERY guilty and anxious. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't put my workouts over my sick child, but I don't want to loose my week 10 momentum. Is there anyone out there who has completed one or more challenges that had to skip workouts? Should I not count these days toward my 12 weeks? Am I obsessing? I have just come too far to not finish this challenge!!!
Guest guest
I have been in that situation too. During week 8 I had to take 2 days off due to illness. I just had to remind myself that it's 80% down to eating, so I kept my eating up, and just carried on as soon as I was well enough. I considered making up for it on my free day, but realised I really needed the rest more than the extra cardio. in NZ C1W12D5 > Hi ladies. I'm a bit stressed. Guest guest
Hey there, i went through the same thing also. what i did was while everyone was asleep, i did makeshift cardio in the living room: one minute, walking in place, running in place, skipping around, jumpping jacks, ect. i know it isn't the same, but if i hadn't, i would have beat myself up about it forever... > Hi ladies. Sometimes life gets in the way, unexpected things come up, etc. If you can't work out, then you can't. Try not to dwell on it. A day or two or even three won't kill your progress. Personally, I haven't worked out or even been on plan for 2 days now. Had a stressful event with my Dobe (my furry kid) and a possible life threatening illness. He had surgery and is on the road to recovery but I don't have the physical or mental energy to get with it at the moment. As soon as things get back to normal at home, I'll just get right back to it. But for now I'm " giving myself " the leeway to just get through the day a bit at a time and not worrying about workouts, etc. Colleen
Guest guest
You know what your describing, is exactly what I was experience about a week ago. I was debating on missing workouts, but decided that summer is to close. I also had spider vain injections done last week so my legs were wrapped so tight, I was walking like a penguin. LOL But, you know I waddled down the stairs, and got on my swiss ball and starting working out my arms. To my surprise I felt better. The next day I did my treadmill, even with a cold and wrapped legs. Everyone in my family is still, coughing and aching and I think I sweat it out with my workouts. Don't kill your self, scale back a little and make sure to take at least 1500mg of Vit-C I also took Echinacea/goldseal drops 500mg twice a day. To make sure I did not stress my body to much. But, there is no need to miss a workout with allergies or a cold. Working through them, with care will more then likely make you better, faster. <modolce@...> wrote: I planned on starting BFL challenge today. I've done great so far with my eating, but I am sick. Actually, Ive been feeling sick for weeks (allergies) but last night it turned into something different. I have no energy, I'm congested, stuffed up, dry scratchy throat, and have lost my voice.
