Sorry this took so long...Gmail won't let me reply, so I had to figure out how to go to the group page.I'm HERE. (New to the group.)Was diagnosed around 1995 with genotype 3a Went on Interferon for a year with every side effect imaginable from 1996-97. I'd researched and heard about Ribaviron, but the Stanford doctors wouldn't even discuss it so I went through a year of hell with a 17% chance of a cure vs the almost 90% it seems I would have had (with my genotype, viral load, etc.) I've never been the same since the Interferon physically, emotionally or mentally. Admittedly, I have enough other reasons to be a wreck, but I know, and have heard of, other patients who have never fully recovered from chemo treatments (whether from Interferon or any form of chemo-therapy.)Has anybody seen a doctor who admits that Interferon can have lasting "after-effects?" Also, has anybody else had to fight SS

Actually Bek you are lucky.  You don't have to go thru 48 weeks of chemotherapy to clear the virus.  Your body cleared it on it's own.  You maybe had the virus active for all of a week and it wasn't able to do any damage.  There are many people here who would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

PamI think that likely we all have long lasting "after-effects". Going through tx twice really changed me and the way I would like to live now. Mostly, I mean emotionally and mentally. The problem really was more, that folks around me just wouldn't let go of shit from even the riba-rages.Now, I just want to live my life quietly and not engage with anyone who thinks they are justified to have judged me in any way. The fact that my husband and I separated in June and then he passed away on Christmas Eve, has had a profound effect on me.Quite simply - I've retreated to my shell that I had discarded over 20 yrs ago. I have

very little trust in anyone. But, I can live with that without a problem anyway.Gloria

Yes,

True.

I am so so lucky, how i fought it off i have no idea other than i was healthy as a horse. I have eaten well and exercised my whole life.

Still do.

I guess I had one hell of an immune system. I don't now though.

It left me with all these other things.

The pain in itself is hell.

Hugs,

Bek

Bek,Truly I don't believe that the problems you are having now have anything to do with hep c.  You had hep c like most of us had chicken pox.  You didn't have it long enough for it to do any damage and anyone who is telling you that these problems are from you having hep c is pretty much blowing smoke at you.
