Guest guest
TeriIt was over 2 years after diagnosis before I had the first biopsy. I didn't realize that going for regular blood work on the liver was important. Our system, at that time was - you had to show 3 bad liver enzyme readings. Well I probably only went about 4 times for the test. But, after the biopsy I was a shoe in for tx.Gloria You need to demand one at this point. I can't believe you've gone this long without one. Crap, they had mine done within a few months of diagnosis. Guest guest
See, there is the difference between socialized medicine and privately funded medicine... and not necessarily in a good way. Because I had private insurance, as soon as my liver enzymes came back elevate they started digging. More tests were run without my even knowing it. I went from having a blood test to find out if I could handle a medication for migraines to being told I had hep c. As soon as the blood test came back abnormal the doctor ordered the additional tests to screen for hep c and to get my genotype and viral load if the test was positive. So when they told me I had hep c, they already knew what was going on. It took several months before I saw the gastro but that was my doing. I was diagnosed right before the holidays and decided I didn't want to deal with any of it til after the New Year. My appt with the Gastro was on January 2. I had my ultrasound and biopsy in February. By March I was already with the new doctor. Everything went very quickly with me. Guest guest
TeriOf course there is a difference between socialized and private funding of medical care. However, our medical premiums are likely a whole lot smaller than yours. Yes, we have to wait for specialists a horrible long time. Once you do see one though, then it goes smooth. We also have some private clinics now. For the folks that don't want to wait! My sister-in-law used and probably still uses a private clinic because her and my brother can well afford it. Also, if it were my parents that were sick, that same brother would insist on getting them to the private clinic.Gloria See, there is the difference between socialized medicine and privately funded medicine... and not necessarily in a good way.
