A little investigating goes a LONG way.

Guys, I want you to be VERY AWARE of what you are putting into your bodies and

what it may be doing to you.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the problems that Trudy has been having.

Tremors, falling, stuttering, shuffling when she walks, just to name a few of

her issues.. Something occurred to me the other day when reading one of her

messages. First off, all of her symptoms were neurological or brain based.

Alarms went off in my head.. chemical imbalance, a medication. I did some

research for her just about an hour ago and ONE of her medications has a slew of

possible side effects... most of which she has. All of which is making her

doctors go crazy trying to diagnose her with something... She has been

suffering with these problems all thru treatment. As a matter of fact, her

treatment was ended EARLY due to these issues and they all came from an

anti-depressant that is used to treat Fibromylagia. I venture to bet that as

soon as Trudy gets this stupid drug out of her system, these symptoms will fade

into the sunset. A lot of commotion over a little pill doing a lot of damage.

The doctors (all of them) overlooked the OBVIOUS. This happens too frequently.

You have to be your own advocate when it comes to your health. You have to know

what you are taking in medication wise. Does the drug have side effects? Does

it interact badly with another drug you are taking?

Now, don't jump on me and say I found this because I have a medical

background.... I did NOTHING that you guys couldn't do. Here is what I did..

I went to www.bing.com and typed in " Side Effects of Elavil " . If you are taking

ANY prescription medication I suggest you do this with each and every one of

your medications. Do this with SUPPLEMENTS as well. Also, when researching

your supplements it's a good idea to also check into what happens if you are

taking too much of them...

Trudy has gone thru HELL over this. She has suffered thru physical problems

that appear to have all been caused by a stupid little pill. Her treatment was

ended abruptly because of this... Let's not let this happen to anyone else

okay? Please, go online and check your meds! We should all KNOW what we are

putting into our bodies!

TeriThat was a very good reason to be on your soapbox! Geez, of course it could be the Elavil. You are so very right. All these symptoms started before tx!!!I know that with any anti-depressant, the only way to find out if it works, is to give them a trial period of time. So far in my life, I have never had a reaction to any medication. But, Trudy - your trial period should have been up at the sign of the first side effect. But, geez, wouldn't you think that a Dr. would be on the look out??? Just goes to show how each and every one of us have to be our own advocates with our health.Gloria

I'm just sayin...  We need to know what the hell we are taking.  If something starts to go awry the first question we should ask ourselves is what has changed?  I had the same thing happen to me with my legs and feet swelling and it was my blood pressure medication doing it.  I thought I had been changed from a brand name to a generic.. NOPE the idiot changed the whole scope of the medication.. then he didn't realize when the swelling started that it could have been related...  I lived with that problem for over a year and made many trips to the ER because of it.
