Hey Teri and all,

I wanted to check in and say hello and cheer everyone on. This was the hardest decision to make but to date i am happy I chose tx.

Weeks 1 through 4 were ok- somewhat painful, uncomfortable and a complete fog honestly. I felt like a zombie. i just stuck with the norm and went along with the daily schedule and not a thing more. Then week 5 and 6 just about knocked me off the wall. I was giving up tx or work or both but do to the good friends here and a wonderful nurse I was energized to stick with it. Well week 7 has been unbelievable. For 1 week I have felt like a new, healthy, functioning, thinking person again. I am so happy that it will get me through another 16 weeks. Tomorrow I am looking forward to my shot. No more worrying and dreading it. It is working and I will take the good with the bad as long as I continue to beat this virus.

Donna, thank you so much for updating us.  I know you were having a hard time a few weeks back.  My doc told me that if you're going to get used to the meds and their effects it takes about 10 weeks.  If you can get thru the 10 weeks and then have things clear you're fine for the rest of it.  But it takes your body that long to adjust to the meds sometimes...  In my case.. my body NEVER adjusted!  So glad it's calming down for you!

I am alive, breathing and working every day. Trying to quit smoking but yeah I think pretty good. They changed my appointment with my Gastro from Feb to April. Dying to see my test results It has been a 1 1/2 yr since my last blood test since being pulled from tx. Thanks for asking

Sorry this took so long...Gmail won't let me reply, so I had to figure out how

I'm HERE. (New to the group.)

Was diagnosed around 1995 with genotype 3a Went on Interferon for a year with

every side effect imaginable from 1996-97. I'd researched and heard about

Ribaviron, but the Stanford doctors wouldn't even discuss it so I went through a

year of hell with a 17% chance of a cure vs the almost 90% it seems I would have

had (with my genotype, viral load, etc.)

I've never been the same since the Interferon physically, emotionally or

mentally. Admittedly, I have enough other reasons to be a wreck, but I know, and

have heard of, other patients who have never fully recovered from chemo

treatments (whether from Interferon or any form of chemo-therapy.)

Has anybody seen a doctor who admits that Interferon can have lasting

" after-effects? "

Also, has anybody else had to fight SS Disability?
