Guest guest
Hey Butch... see if your doc will replace the Elavil with Trazadone. Same concept but a bit stronger. I take 100 mgs of Trazadone WHEN I get into bed... I get comfortable and I am out like a light in 15 minutes. Works every time. Elavil worked sometimes but not all the time... That too needs to be taken just before bed. Fatigue is half the problem with Fibro pain. If you could get decent sleep the pain wouldn't be quite so bad... catch 22. Interferon causes all sorts of problems... There are many people who just can't take the stuff. And it takes years to get that crap out of your system. I am still struggling with it. I finished treatment in 2006. Hep c is gone... aftermath of treatment.. still hanging on. I look at it as a trade off. I'd rather be here and alive but in pain than 6 feet under already. I'm not ready to push up daisies. Not yet. I did have a lot of bone pain on treatment. I called my doctor one day and talked to the nurse... This was the conversation... or to the best of my recollection anyway... Me to Nurse: I think I just broke my leg. Nurse to me: How did you do that and what makes you think it's broke? Me to Nurse: I just woke up and it hurts like hell and I know it's broke! Nurse to me: What bone are you talking about? Me to Nurse: The big bone in my leg... in my thigh. Nurse to me: Stand up. Me to Nurse: Okay I'm standing (STOP LAUGHING ALL OF YOU .... I KNOW YOU ARE CRACKING UP NOW) Nurse to me: Your leg is not broken. Take a Vicodin and go to sleep. Goodnight! Basically that was the conversation... mixed with laughter on her end. My nurse loved me and put up with calls like these from me all the time. I would have pain in my bones that was so intense I was afraid to look at the spot that hurt.. I was sure I had a bone broken and sticking out of the skin... nope.. nothing was ever broke. But the pain was INTENSE. So I feel ya there... I get it. Now... everybody quit laughing at Teri and her broken leg!Hugs,Teri Gabapentin... It did NOTHING for me. My son, however, loves the stuff. He uses it for migraines. It's a nerve blocker. Blocks the nerves that cause pain... supposedly. Didn't do anything for me at all. Have you ever heard of interferion destroying bones? I do understand the wory about taking so many meds with bad liver. I am on Oxycodone, Fosomax, Lyrica, sleeping pill, vitamin D and E. I am sure I missed a pill or 2 LOL. I ask if all this is safe and the doctors say sure but read the warning's that come with meds and they all say bad for the liver. I guess it's all better than doing nothing if they work. I hope the Elavil work for you, Please let me know, So far they don't seem to work for me but just may take time. Guest guest
ButchGood luck with getting any answer for the fatigue from this bunch, including me!! If I don't take a sleeping pill every night, I will not sleep - period. But, no matter what I do, I always feel tired when I wake up, even after sometimes, 10 hrs. In fact, it has come down to the fact that it's hurting my life. I can not get motivated to work and I'm a self-employed bookkeeper. Gotta do something soon. It's true, just about any medication "can" be bad for the liver; but, some not bad enough to stop taking them. Fortunately, I have a GP that will actually pull out her big book about prescriptions. That way, I'm pretty sure that she will not prescribe anything that will interact with something I already have. However, just in case, I go to a real pharmacy! They don't sell TV's or furniture etc. I'm on a 1st name basis with just about all the staff and definitely with the pharmacists themselves. Thus, I know that they have my back, just in case there is a mistake.Oh - and I actually take muscle relaxants for the Fibro. I swallow 3 little houses at night and they are an additional help for sleep. But, as long as I don't over do anything, they help me keep the Fibro under some kind of control.Gloria Hey Trudy sorry so long to respond, Just got to this e-mail...busy week.
