Guest guest
So I went for bi biannual ultrasound, though it has been a year since the last one. My new doctor calls. The conversation goes thusly: HIM: I’m calling with the results of your ultrasound. It looks good. ME: What does that mean, ‘looks good’? HIM: Your liver is healthy. ME: My fibrosis is staged at 3/4. I wouldn’t call that ‘healthy’. HIM: The ultrasound doesn’t measure fibrosis. ME: So what does it mean, ‘looks good’? No tumors, no clogged tubes, no cancer? HIM: Yeah, that’s what it means. ME: OK, thanks. HIM: Bye. Well, it’s good news that there are no tumors still. Do you think I was too tough on him? I should have pressed, because I am curious to know whether the ultrasound can see if the hepatic portal is clogged, kinked, or compromised. Next on the agenda, meeting the new Hepatologist. Guest guest
CyndeI believe that Ultra Sound will show if anything is going on around that hepatic portal. However, here, the least little thing they see on my liver with Ultra Sound means that I automatically have to go for a CT Scan.I did have a small tumour right next to and beginning to push on, the hepatic portal. I also had a larger tumour to the right and a lot further down. Both were successfully operated on, in April. But, I sure understand what you are saying about the "looks good"!! How the hell can it look good when we have these narly livers and areas where it is honestly dead. I haven't even been able to ask the surgeon that did the resection on me, how much liver did he cut out. So far, even though we all thought it very well could be another tumour, when I went in for my first semi-annual Ultra Sound, it wasn't and soon I will be able to say that I am a 1 year cancer surviver.Gloria So I went for bi biannual ultrasound, though it has been a year since the last one.
