Marie,

Hi, it has been a long time since I have written. I think about you often

and it sounds like you are doing very well. I have been debating about

coming to the convention/party and have decided to jump in and commit.

is pregnant and her due date is 12-24 so that makes me uncomfortable

with being away. She had complications last time so I am concerned.

However, I have decided that this is something I need to do for me. I am

looking forward to seeing you.

Marie,

I will be leaving after work on Friday, so I will be in very late Friday.

It has been so long since I saw everyone that I don't want to miss a thing.

See you soon.

Marie,

I wanted to let you know that had her baby and I have another

granddaughter. She was born yesterday. She named her Brooklyn.

waited for me to come back from the party. I was concerned about being so

far away . asked about you when I returned and was glad to hear how

wonderfully you are doing. Have a Merry Christmas.

Marie: I agree It is hard to understand God's Infinate wisdom. There are

trials that come up in all our lives that make us sit back and look for the

answers. Well there is not an answer to us, to many of the things that get

in our paths, but God has that answer and He will help us thru it if we ask.

I am not preaching religion but believe this with all my heart. Each and

every person has the right to believe what they want but I feel it levels out

the valleys and peaks. Phyllis

Marie: I'll take the ten pounds you are offering. But I don't want them in the

bat wings. Anywhere else will do as long as it can be used to lift a few places

back north.

I'm contemplating whether I can make it to the picnic now...I'll decide in a few

days after I talk to my sister.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome Marie...I to had transfusion in 1974 after tubal pregnancy ruptured and

didnt find out until 1994. Then I was told nothing could be done so I stewed

until now. I am in my fifth week of just the pegintron and my viral lode

dropped from 1,650,000 to 650,000 after the third shot. The outlook is good for

me and I will pray for you as well. No need to feel alone...we are all rooting

for you.

Marie Kuhn <mariemk@...> wrote:Hi everyone,

I've had Hep C since I received a blood transfusion in 1979 but only found

out about it in 1996, when I gave blood for my knee surgery. I'm sure this

is a very familiar story. I tried the interferon monotreatment in 1997-98,

and responded, but relapsed in about 6 months.

Now that my viral load is back around 2 million and my liver enzymes are

elevated again, my doctor is putting me on the combo treatment of Peg-Intron

and Rebetol beginning the middle of January, after my granddaughters first

birthday. I don't want to be sick for that.

I've read some books and internet sites on Hep C, but am beginning to feel

alone all over again. I'm looking forward to meeting others in the group

and to learn of other peoples experiences.

Thanks for being here,

Marie: By all means if you like your doctor then stay with him. Good doctors

are hard to find these days and if he is willing to study up on the disease then

he is the one you should stay with. I am with my regular medical doctor cause

my specialist is a jerk. He told me that he wouldnt consider treatments cause I

was too fat!...What a jerk..he even went so far as to tell me to go on a 500

calorie diet. I felt like slapping him but just left. I guess he thinks he

knows it all. It is hard enough to feel energetic with food, but to starve

myself is not in the plan.

God Bless and take care

Marie Kuhn <mariemk@...> wrote:Thanks to everyone on the advice with the

internist goes, he's been my doctor for a long time and has been studying up

on Hepatitis C for a good while. He was my doctor when I was on the

interferon monotreatment. He has learned more about the combo treatment,

too. He's a caring and attentive doctor. There is only one

gastroenterologist within miles (we live in a small town) and he's a real

!#@ & #, if you know what I mean. I tried him once and was really put off. I

couldn't trust him. He'll tell me things that I knew were wrong and would

get upset if I seemed to know what I was talking about. Like, patients are

suppose to be dumb and not know anything. I was just a number to him.

Anyway, I think I'll do OK with my internist. He has a friend out of town

who's a gastroenterologist and he speaks to him from time to time, too. He

has really gone above and beyond the call of duty for me. It's hard to say

that about lots of doctors.

Marie that all we can do is learn. I believe that some doctors out there really don't have a clue on HepC. Last treatment I did not take antidepressant because I never had a depressant problem before. Half why though the treatment around five I found out that my behavior was out of control. I should have taken them so this time I am going to take them. LaDonna

Thanks for the information. I'll bring this up with my doctor when I see

him in about a week. So far, I haven't needed an antidepressant, so maybe I

can do without one this time around. I had asked him for the Wellbutrin,

because it had helped me the firt time I was on interferon and it helped

with some depresssion. The first time, my psychiatrist had given it to me.

Hopefully, I won't need it this time, but if I do, I'll find something

that's not as bad for my liver.

I did not start treatment on Monday but will this coming Monday. I went in a the Doctor and he said one of the side effects is a detached retina and bleeding of the retina he would not start me until I went to have my eyes checked so he made me go to the eye doctor and get my eyes checked before they would give me the medicine. I found out that I now need glasses too. One more thing! Plus he has arranged for me to see a councilor on a regular basis because of the problems I had last treatment. Did any of you know about the retina problem?

I feel so sad about causing all this confusion. I just wanted to talk with someone instead of getting the jokes. I am so sorry. I'll go back to deleting again or leave.

I've never heard of the retina problems, but at least you found out that you

need glasses, right? :) You might not feel well with treatment, but you'll

be able to see to give yourself the injections now. ;)

Hang in there,

I have never heard that but I do know that the treatment can cause side affects that deal with the eyes.So that test worked out to be a plus any way. Love Teri

Hi Pam,

If you don't have my email address already, let me know where to send it.

I'd like to meet others in my area. There was a support group in Shalimar

(near Ft. Walton Beach), but I found out they don't meet any more. I

haven't seen anything on a Destin group.

Thanks,

Hi Teri,

I sure don't want another biopsy, even though I didn't have any problems

with my first one. I had heard that a CAT scan can show cirrhosis, but

that's all. In one of my Anatomy books it showed pictures from a CAT

scan of a regular liver and one with cirrhosis. Scary pictures!!

Hi Teri,

My thyroid gland is under active. I take .125 mg of Synthroid. I didn't

know about the Soy Protein. I'm glad you mentioned it. I can't drink milk

because I'm lactose intolerant, and ususlly drink the Lactaid milk. My

daughter had suggested Soy Milk and I hadn't gotten it yet. What reason

were you given about the Soy Milk?

I'll have more tests in March. The PCR test that I had in December just

showed that the virus was back, but not the viral load number, so in March

I want to know the viral load number. I've been feeling really great the

last few weeks. My energy has returned since being off of treatment. I

feel as good as new (for someone with cirrhosis). I get tired in the

evenings, but I guess that's normal for me. I'm getting back into my

volunteer work and Bible studies at my church now. It feels good to be

active again.

-Hi, Guys,

just want to put my two cents in here....don't be too quick to bash

soy, some babies need it to live. My first and only nephew may have

died if it were not for soy. He had all the formula and milk

alergies, and soy basicly saved his life. He is now 1 years old and

thriving, has gained weight and can keep food down. My step sister

thanks God every day for soy. For me I was lucky and breast fed all

my babies with great sucess.

Just my opinion, when it comes to Hep C and soy or adults I don't

know any different.....also on long term effects, I don't know, all I

know is my nephew is strong, alert, hungry, healthy and where he

should be at this age.

Thanks for listening,

Hi,

I'll have my liver function, CBC, and Thyroid test on November 16th. If I

didn't already have cirrhosis, I might consider waiting for another

treatment, but they say something new is years away. Good luck with your

doctor appointment. I hope you have good lab test results.

However I have been up at the hospital with my Mother for two weeks and were not able to check in - can you tell me how Deb is and what is going on with her?

Thanks so much

And take care and God Bless you all

Marie
