TrudyAs I read this, I felt angry and my anti-depressants work!! Just like that - he doesn't want to see you again?? Leaves you out in the cold?? Probably hasn't got the guts to admit that he doesn't know why this happens.Up here, our GP's have to refer patients to any specialists. If you were referred, I'd certainly tell the GP not to send anyone else to him. Also, ask your GP for names of other doctors in that field. Hopefully, you can see someone quickly and not have to wait 6 mos to a year.Gloria

Fellow heppers, I need your advice and experience once again. Let me set the stage first.

Last Sept my caregivers( Becky) thought I might be having a stroke. Took my to GP who ordered a brain MRI. That lead to a referal to Nuerologist. Within the next month Nuero did some fancy test with sticking electric needles in me. Dertermined that I had severe nueorapathy in arms & legs. Didn't offer any advice / hope of fixing.

Then I had already started tx, many test were put on hold. Neuro did some labs that led him to refering me to Oncologist. That has not be resolved; Oncologist still testing. But Neuro had said that I have nerves mis-firing.

I had a back MRI, ordered by Nuero. Today after 3 weeks his office called to say that the MRI showed nothing of consequince. Two weeks ago my GP gave me those results during a vist to him. Lower back vertebra have lost the " squishy pillow " of stuff between the disc. Don't know how I am to follow up on that, or is it even something to follow up?

But when Nuero said there was nothing abnormal I didn't argue. Figure I have bigger fish to fry with Nuero. For about a year( before tx) I have experienced nerves that seem to originate on palm of left hand then left breast. Over this time this nerve pain has become very severe and travels thru my entire body. The only reason I am able to stand it is I tell myself it will quit in a min or so. It may stay away for hours or come back in seconds. Believe me it is very severe. And seems to me to be neuro issue.

Well Nuero's office called & said I should go to pain management Dr. I mentioned that the nerve issue has become severe & it hasn't been addressed due to tx . But tx over & this is a real issue. Office made me an appt for the 29th. An hour later the office called to say that Nuero is signing off on me,that he would not be able to assist me any further. No reason given. WTF happened??

I'm at a total loss here.

So do I try to find a different Nuero? I am going to get all of my records from the Nuero so we don't have to start from scratch.

Do any of you have any experience with Pain Management?? That sounds to me like We Give Up; just deal with it for rest of life. However I don't think two visits with Nuero is adequate to give up.

Sorry to have rambled so long. I'm near tears. This is EXACTLY why I have given up on Drs in the past. Even now I loose faith, but continue on with the hope that I can be " fixed " so I can resume my life.

Teri, no Elavil for two days now. Had a couple of ugly temper flares. Now I am fighting depression ( due to above situation). Tonight I get to take Elavil as this is the Weaning Process.

Unfortunely I am have the hand jerking-tremors. Not as bad tho; started this morning.

Please weigh in as I'm totally confused.

Folks, I don't know if I've shared my 60 dollar question with you before and since a lot of people are new...  I'm going to share it.

When you need a specialist and you are sitting in front of your GP here is what you ask... " IF I were your daughter, wife or mother who would you send me to?  If you're a guy use father/spouse/son. You will get a much different response to this question because it catches them off guard and they answer immediately.  This is how you find the GOOD doctor!
